If Mr Fellowes ever reads this … you’ve ruined all other TV shows for me! The week of Christmas 2022 I was hospitalized with double pneumonia and their cable channels were lousy. I used my phone to stream Peacock channel and Downton Abbey was there. My cousin and daughter had been telling me for years to watch it. Well … I started watching and now I can’t stop! I’m on my fifth time watching it … every single season & episode. It’s such a great show … the story lines, the music, the characters, the scenery, castle etc. I was glad to get home if only to be able to watch it on my TV! I remember hearing Matt Damon say his wife was addicted to Downton Abbey … like crack cocaine addicted!! LOL I am in that same category. Thank you so much!❤❤❤ And thank you to the cast of such gorgeous, talented actors! 😍 I assume some day I’ll stop watching it … temporarily at least.

I agree with you Summer, Downton has ruined other shows for me too. Other shows just don't stack up with great acting or writing or production. But never mind I am happy to watch it again and again.

"Evil" Barrow vs "evil" O'Brien: Barrow recognized the evil of Nanny West, brought it to Cora's attention, and saved the children ‐especially Sybbie!- from Nanny West's abuse. He also helped Lady Edith during the fire. His actions are definitely far from angelic throughout the series, but he's got some redeeming qualities in there somewhere. O'Brien left a bar of soap on the floor where a pregnant Cora was bathing, leading to Cora slipping on the bar of soap, falling, and having a miscarriage. O'Brien did seem to have second thoughts, but too little too late. What kind of person wouldn't have picked up the soap in the first place? No one is pure evil, but imo, O'Brien has few redeeming qualities, and they're buried deep. I'd say that O'Brien and Lady Flintshire are well-suited to each other. 😂 😂

But, the wonder is generated by Julian Fellows, his team of writers AND the excellent production team team of artisans, sound and vision engineers and all the other members of the production team (including the finance department slaves!) who are the secret of the series success.

Yeah, maybe it's a UK thing, but a grown man saying tummy to other adults (rather than stomach or belly) seems odd & both the actor & his character do it. In the USA tummy is a word used by and with children. Kids get tummy aches, adults don't.
