I have been many state. I used to live several state. But never see peoples care too much about landscaping like Boise Peoples. I use to live Seattle and Portland. But I live boise now.i love how the city look. They take care landscaping so nice. Many organic food store.and nursery gardens. Love that...

@anonymous Unfortunately yes this does mean we will see increasing rents downtown as the popularity and value offering of the downtown core continues to grow. There are currently some developments in progress aimed at providing some workforce housing near downtown in an effort to compensate for the problem of rising rents, however, in my personal opinion it will not be a permanent solution. Rents will rise. That said, in comparing the rents to some areas of Seattle, Portland, and Sacramento, it is still relatively "affordable". Boise is changing, that is for sure! Well done video. I’ve visited twice in the last couple of years. Your description is accurate. It’s one of the nicest mid size downtowns in the country. Lots of fun pocket areas too, like the North End and the Basque section. The metro area needs to work on its road/freeway system tho.

Unfortunately, I still have 10 more years til I retire. When I am done here, my hope is to live in either Boise or Meridian. Eagle may be out of my price range. Until then though, we will continue to visit 1 to 2 times a year.

Yes Rod, it is You Tube videos that cause people to pick up their families and lives in order to move thousands of miles across the country. Alternatively, it could be the better quality of life, employment opportunity, lifestyle, entertainment, or any number of factors.

Capping growth is not possible in a free market society. Boise will grow so long as the value proposition of the market remains higher than surrounding metro areas.

It is true that Video is affective in advertising... however, video is not the reason people are moving to Boise. Boise has been appearing on just about every "Top 10" list in existence for the last decade. In addition to the factors I mentioned above (the value proposition of the region), these lists and national publicity drive massive attention to the area, and for good reason. It is a wonderful place to call home. A scarcity mentality will not stop the migration. I don't even recognize Boise anymore (grew up here in the 80s). Does it hurt sometimes to see traditions change? Yes. Do I still wish I could get a dip cone at the College In & Out by BSU? Yes. However, does Boise have and offer many things now that it did not in the 80s? Absolutely. I feel blessed to live and work in a city that has so much to offer. I think it is wonderful that other people get to come here and contribute their talents to make it an even better place to live.

Todd, are you asking about Boise or Bellingham, WA? I've never been to Boise, but can answer about Bellingham. Bellingham is definitely not conservative by any stretch. But many of the outlying areas are. The homelessness issue in Bellingham has been a bit of a hot button issue as of lately, but it's not as bad as Seattle or San Francisco. Bellingham is an easy going small city. It's been always rated high for retirement, despite being a college town.

@@Kagpaw you have to understand something..SF, sol cal, orange county, santa anna county, ect are all major cities that outnumber the republican and conservatives counties. those city are the most liberal democratic counties in cali. from what i have seen the most people that have moved idaho vote red and are conservative. despite the steady growth of idaho it still remain what makes idaho. having those liberal countries outnumber the other counties makes it impossible to have the people who vote red heard. that is why they are leaving. too expensive, jobs are no where to be found and liberals have taken over. the republicans and conservatives never voted for what has happened. it is only going to get worse here in cali. ill be moving with my family around next year.

You have to really see for yourself before you move...as stated, there’s less than 300k people in Boise so not near as much opportunity or things to do as in Denver. Going from a big city/metro to a small city is a huge change and not many people stay. Mainly retirees, Mormon families, and agricultural workers live here.

I am from Oregon, and I have had to watch my precious state and the city of Portland transmutate into a behemoth I can no longer recognize. I like Boise, and hope it stays small and the people of that area do not want what has happened here. And it is not so much that what you are doing is wrong. It just seems that businessmen like you are perfectly willing to sacrifice the culture of your respective city, at any cost, and vulnerabilities that undergird it, to make money. And eventually attractive non-natives, have the city swell into a bully, and become some giant liberal area that is foreign to the people of that state. Look at the people who are moving there: Californians, Oregonians, Texans. People who have had that exact political experience themselves.

Marco thanks for the comment and the concerns. I understand your perspective. I would ask you to consider what it is that we are actively "sacrificing" by promoting our great city? The growth that you describe has been going on in Boise for decades (steady growth since the 1970s). KZbin videos, while convenient platforms for these discussions, have nothing to do with causing growth in the Treasure Valley. The growth is happening whether we choose to embrace it, hate it, or ignore it. For my part, having grown up in what used to be the quiet town of Eagle, there is some sadness attached to the growth without a doubt. However, sad or happy, it cannot be changed. The growth is here the only question is do we embrace it and attempt to direct it in healthy ways or do we ignore it and pretend it will cease. Thanks again for your comment. NS

Looks and feels very much like Salt Lake City, Utah. Clean and peaceful asf. What the rest of America used to be and should be. The mountains, oceans, canyons, forests, and deserts - all within a 4-8 hour drive or a 2 hour flight at most. Just hope the woke crowd and homeless, addicts from the usual suspect states don't show up here. And of course, the shoplifters, people who run illegal food trucks, street food stands... Idaho seems like a place where all this would be dealt with an iron fist in a hot minute. Namaste.

I don't think Boise is overrated at all, and your comment seems a little negative, but I appreciate the mention of the inversions! Read the strong ones only last for about 2 or 3 months in the winter time. Overcrowding is starting to become a thing because of all of the real estate activity promoting Boise like this video. Inventory is extremely low and prices are continuing to climb. Bidding wars are a very common thing now. Definitely can’t keep up with the population growth at all.
