I've been wanting to build a "Downtown Deco" kit and this one looks pretty easy to get started with. After much swearing and cussing I assembled a Tichy Train Group flatcar. I followed the directions to the very letter and wish I hadn't. In a previous step I had installed the stirrups and broke every one of them off trying to install the extra added bronze phosphorus wire grab irons. If you ever build a Tichy kit install the stirrups as the very LAST step. I ended up making some stirrups out of staples from a desktop stapler that were the correct size for the HO scale model. I think I spent as much time chasing small parts across the floor as I did assembling the model, LOL! After the assembly I painted the chassis under the frame a rail brown and painted over all those intricate brake details (which no one will ever see). I hand painted each board on the deck a different shade of brown/grey brown mixing the acrylic paint as I went along in a small plastic communion cup. It came out looking quite realistic. Cheers from eastern TN

surprised there are no comments! I built this kit some years ago - in fact I have built most all the kits randy ever made as the structures were perfect for my down-at-the heals post industrial city outskirts. i even put a wall on upside down and backwards but didn't notice it until it was placed on the layout

Oh wow, you have a layout full of downtown deco kits and you are keeping it a secret? You have got to post some video of that!

Enjoyed the music and on screen instruction. Sometimes better than the talk. I need to make a coffeehouse like that. Thanks for the instruction

Back in '98, I put together a few N scale's. After they were completed, they looked like the DTD structures. Maybe my apt. wasn't ventilated enough. I can imagine you having a piano player in the corner of your room. Nice video! I appreciate the RR magazines that feature street scenes from that era. I collect postcards of street scenes.

You can airbrush the craft acrylics. Thin it with original (with ammonia) Windex.

Thanks for the tip. Your channel is a flashback to the kits I built as a kid. I have a couple AMT truck models in the stack which may end up in videos.
