I too have wondered at the low numbers of views. Your videos have great instructions and analysis of problematic area and you’re honest about mistakes and fixes for them. In addition the pace of your work is spot on leaving the viewer satisfied and not bored. I have passed the channel on to my build buddies and I know of one for sure who is an avid fan. Thanks for your efforts to expand the hobby.

Thanks for the comments. Interesting that you mention that. When I started the channel, I was really curious about the KZbin algorithms. So I do not promote my videos at all outside of YT. I don't have an Instagram. I just post the videos and let nature takes its course. It was interesting to watch the views and comments of the Vice Grip Garage Chevelle video as it took a few days for all of the VGG fans to find out about it and then viewership skyrocketed. My Revel Constitution video, which is one my oldest, is consistently my top viewed video and I have no idea where the views are coming from.

Your video was a random pop up from KZbin. I did watch until the end and then I hit the “subscribe “ button. I’ve been in the hobby for 35 years, but you can always learn something different in building and weathering techniques. I appreciated your “work arounds” when something didn’t quite work out. It’s only a matter of time when every kit builder ends up in that situation. I just tell myself it makes my building unique 😀

Awesome work as always. The way you positioned the unloading trestle was nice so the detail work you did on the bin walls can be seen. The muddy ground texture and grass/weeds looks very good. I learned something new about using the spackle for areas of dirt in gravel. Nice tip. Very nice work. 👍

FSM kits are top of line for sure, I have a few- just bought Emporium Seafood Co at the Timonium, MD train show. As a cabinetmaker I like these craftsman kits. You have done a fine job on your models, thank you for sharing.

I see your models are highly weathered kinda like I weather my models in HO and Lionel 027. Only engines I haven't weathered are two GP-9's with the Central of Georgia heralds, 'cause I model the Central of Georgia. These are two Atlas engines I paid $75 apiece and don't want to mess them up. I will eventually weather them after the new wears off. Everything else is weathered including all my buildings, engines and rolling stock. I also like to scratch build for both 027 and HO scale. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee

I need a near 9 foot section that’s going to be a part of a chemical plant and choosing to model that I’m absolutely screwed because I am not good at kit building what so ever…. Layouts being built currently as fast as I can and it’s 3 decks excluding the modular helix at the end to connect the three point to point levels has 151 feet of mainline and likely two to three times that in sidings and yard tracks overall. Doing it all on my own with very little skill so it’s gonna take a long time

I can understand that. All the kits of that era had the same shingles and it took me a long time to get used to them. In some of my earlier builds (such as Bartholow Coal), I swapped them out for shingles from a third party manufacturer rail-scale-models.com. So you can try that. But I finally got the hang of the rolled shingles. A lot of the current kit manufacturers no longer use those rolled shingles. R Schram is on my short list of upcoming kits to build.

I always love your videos, but I wonder why not put the structures on the layout with Tacky glue so you can, remove them at a later time if you ever needed to. Ya never know when you might wish to change something. Your weathered wood technique is about the best ive seen. I also love how you added joint compound to the gravel and weathered it. Chalks also work well for blending if you dont want to use the airbrush. Very neat how you boarded over the coal trestle to show it out of service. Cheers Rob

I watch and enjoy all your videos. A true craftsman. I especially like your painting and weathering methods. This video was quite timely as I just purchased the castings and templates from an online vendor who bought the rights from Mr Sellios. I am waiting for the wood to arrive to start a scratch build. Unfortunately the instructions were not part of the transaction. Is there way I could obtain a copy of the ones you show in your video. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Great job. I also bought one of those casting sets and I was going to do a build video on it, but I could not figure out how to cut the wood sheets to accurately match the templates. If you solve that problem, I would love to know how you did it. Even beyond that, with all the other stuff you have to buy, I think it is easier to just buy the full kit. I think that company would get a lot more sales if they made some videos of how to build the full kits out of their casting sets. Maybe they don't because it requires special tools?

I used the templates to lay out the dimensions on clapboard stock I had on hand. It can be obtained from Mt Albert or Northeastern. Those are the two that I source my wood from. I am now waiting for other stripwood to arrive, sizes that I had run out of. I have already built the woodshed portion of the complex, ready to move on to the main structure. Now that the castings and templates are available, I have a way to accumulate almost everything needed for the build, except for what may be the strongest item in any FSM kit, the instruction sheet! I can go about it as a scratch build, but I would like to do the build according to the instruction George Sellios wrote. That is why I asked if you could provide a photocopy of the instructions. Of course I’d be willing to compensate you for your time and effort.

thanks for the comments. I think I got it at Lowe's but I am sure they are not hard to find. I think it was in the $50 price range. It is very useful. I highly recommend having one if your layout has inclines.
