Downtown Detroit Michigan Walking Tour | UHD 5K 60FPS
Today we Are taking a Walking Tour around Downtown Detroit Michigan. We will be sightseeing
from Downtown Detroit, The Riverwalk, and then head to Greek Town.
Downtown Detroit:
Downtown Detroit is the central business district and a residential area of the city of Detroit, Michigan, United States. Detroit is the major city in the larger Metro Detroit region. Downtown Detroit is bordered by M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to the west, Interstate 75 (I-75, Fisher Freeway) to the north, I-375 (Chrysler Freeway) to the east, and the Detroit River to the south. The city's main thoroughfare M-1 (Woodward Avenue) links Downtown to Midtown, New Center, and the North End.
Downtown contains much historic architecture and many of the prominent skyscrapers in Detroit, including the Renaissance Center, the Penobscot Building, One Detroit Center, and the Guardian Building. Historic churches, theatres, and commercial buildings anchor the various downtown districts. Downtown has a number of parks including those linked by a promenade along the International Riverfront. Its central square is Campus Martius Park.
In recent years the downtown area has seen tremendous growth and redevelopment. Since 2000 a number of major construction projects have been completed including the new Compuware Headquarters at Campus Martius Park and two new stadiums: Comerica Park and Ford Field. General Motors moved their headquarters into the Renaissance Center, and the Detroit Lions have relocated from Pontiac to Downtown Detroit. High-profile events like the 2005 MLB All-Star Game, Super Bowl XL, and the 2006 and 2012 World Series have taken place in downtown, generating income for local businesses and spurring more growth.[1] As a result, new residents are moving into Detroit in the assortment of new lofts that are opening. An example of these trends is the Westin Book-Cadillac Hotel. In 2006, the Cleveland-based Ferchill Group began the $180 million redevelopment of the historic Book Cadlliac Hotel at the corner of Washington Blvd. and Michigan Avenue. The project, which has been hailed by preservationists houses a 455-room Westin Hotel, 67 high-end condominiums, and two to three restaurants, and some miscellaneous retail serving hotel and conference center guests. DTE Energy Headquarters features an urban oasis of parks, walkways, and a reflecting pool.[2]
Hope You Enjoyed It!

It's great to see that a city which was a byword for failure and dereliction is making such a tremendous recovery. Detroit has shrunk though. Because of loss of so much of its previous industry and therefore population, it cannot be what it once was, sizewise at least. But the centre looks fantastic now.

Lol. Your "hood" is highly likely to be a POS. The neighborhoods are just as important as the Downtown. Only fools would buy a house in a Detroit neighborhood, raise a family there and have them attend a Detroit Public school. That kind of revival is never going to happen....that's why all the positive changes you noted don't mean sh*t. Detroit is a facade.

Beautiful downtown, just needs some development where the parking lots are to create more continuous experience and amenities. Shame so much beauty was torn down in the past instead of preserved. Make sure housing is developed downtown for the sake of all people, not just wealthy transplants.

Detroit isn't a tourist city. It's a workers city, that has developed a negative reputation people love to embellish...we have a very good side which isn't popular to show but it's changing. The last time downtown Detroit was teaming with people on a non-event typical day was in the late 60s, events draw huge crowds...Detroit is a very cool city with cool people that few speak on cause controversy danger and negativity is sexy, to many.

For all you "Kumbaya" people....don't let this video give you a false image of Detroit. I grew up in Detroit. It always had it's "high and low" areas. It really was a "melting pot" racially and ethnically. Great American city with a great legacy. But notice the author stays within the Downtown area in daylight. That's where the BS is. That's where the Corporate/Government $$$ is. There's a saying, "You can put lipstick on a pig...but it's still a pig". Years ago the City filed for bankruptcy and you would have to hate your kids if you sent them to Detroit Public Schools. (Which many decades ago was one of the best systems in the country) Go into ANY of the neighborhoods outside Downtown and it will look literally like a war-ravaged city. I don't even recognize my old neighborhood without feeling shock...and I lived in one of the nicer sections of the City. There is NO excuse for what Detroit has become....and I've heard all the excuses. Bottomline....it is a Black city that is inhabited & governed by Blacks. They take ultimate ownership of the disgrace that is known as "Detroit".

@@topgeardel Well said mate, it's all to do with evolution and genetics. Black people have just come from a tribal background, that is why they form gangs, it's a genetic marker that will take thousands of years to erase, just like white people and chinese people have done over the thousands of years. You can't expect a race to jump from tribal to civilisation in a matter of centuries. African nations have their own independence and look at them, they are barely holding onto a civilised state themselves.

Unemployment is way down and the economy (and stock market) is doing well, crime is down and investments to the infrastructure is growing (thanks to President Biden, Governor Whitmer and the Democrats in Michigan Congress). I work for one of the automakers and there is no shortage of hours and overtime pay. The union got us better pay and a better contract and the car makers will be doing major hiring.
