Too kind FAP! I only had a short window to record before I needed to get over to church. I tried my best to give accurate commentary and circle the structure with the time I had. @trekkie19952 жыл бұрын
As a Volunteer firefighter/EMT I have been on a couple of these and both were at night. So I have called these "All Nighters", as we are on scene all night long. The last one I was on, which was last year, we were there for 12 hours, used over 1 million gallons of water, stressed the city water to the max, and nearly draimed our trucks of fuel. And just from experience, I am willing to bet that, by the time 911 was called, the fire department was extremely behind the 8 ball.
@apriltownsend84632 жыл бұрын
Behind?
@trekkie19952 жыл бұрын
@@apriltownsend8463 , yes. Meaning the fire has been burning for some time before the 911 call was placed and that the fire was already consuming at least half of the attic space before 911 was called. As an example of what I mean, the second large fire I was on, that was like this one, the building was burning for 2-3 hours before someone call 911. While the roof collapsed and there was 2 million dollars im damage, we were able to save the building. So, when I say behind the 8 ball, that is what I mean, the fire has been burning for a while before 911 was called and half, if not all, of the attic has fire and the roof, if not the building is going to burn down. Also these usually start out as offensive fire befor going defensive. Meaning, you start to fight the fire from inside the building and then you evacuate everyone in order to fight the fire from outside due to the fire spreading in the attic causing increased danger risk of collapse of the ceiling and harm to the crew. So this is what I meant by behind the 8 ball.

You have to wonder if they collapsed any of their their supply lines at any given point with their water flow and the demand of water in such a busy town like Gatlinburg. Those ladder trucks flowing can do 1000gpm each easily and with the ground monitors setup they really demand a lot of water flow.

I see a lot of people standing around with the hoses in stationary places pouring water in the same spots. I don't see any hoses, from these views, going into the buildings to attack the fire from the inside either. I realize that the firemen have been at it all night long too. I did view footage of when the fire was very actively burning and saw it take out an exposure that was barely being affected with little water being used on it an no trucks on that side of the building with eventually the whole roof being consumed. Luckily no danger of loss of life just property.

Okay, obviously it's horrible when any business is lost to fire, but why the heck is this fire all over social media? It's under control and they are getting it put out.... it's not like the whole block is on fire? Businesses burn everyday (unfortunately), but they aren't plastered all over KZbin. What's the major importance of THIS one?
@KenKen-ui4ny2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the popularity of the business. Especially one that has been open for decades with repeat out of town and local visitors.
