Thanks for the video. I'm a retired firefighter and I have been to Gatlinburg. I've fought fires as big as this, and I know what it takes. As a firefighter I appreciate when people STAY AWAY! Thank you! Vehicles especially get in the way and make our job harder and less safe. Pedestrians aren't nearly as much as a problem as long as they are further back than all of our equipment. Great video too.
@KenKen-ui4ny2 жыл бұрын
Most departments usually detour traffic around structure fire scenes, using side roads that link back to the main road. So there really no way you can drive so close to it, without getting into possible legal trouble with the law. As for on foot bystanders, i guess the rule of look but keep your distance applies. like you mentioned thay are not as much of a problem, but they are probably discourage from getting too close in for the sake of safety. They just don't want people getting hurt, burnt, or run over by a fire truck.
@dancarter84002 жыл бұрын
@@KenKen-ui4ny At the beginning of an incident we don't have the equipment or manpower to deal with traffic. Cars are always in the way. People want to look and are too lazy to walk. I've been doing this a long time...

This was so sad to see unfold through your coverage of the fire. I remember walking past there last year and telling my wife we need to go check it out next time.

That building in the back is still on fire. Just happy nobody got hurt but the weird thing is how did it jump from one building to the one that's still on fire looked like there was a good amount of distance between these two buildings. Just hoping nobody set these places on fire for the insurance money. What would have made this more dangerous is if that huge wood pile caught on fire as well. I just watched a video on WATE 6 they said they found a body inside one of the buildings that was destroyed but not identifying that individual as of yet.

Surprised they demolished 420 so fast. I would think it would take some time for fire officials to investigate the cause before doing that. Time is money though, so I guess someone is anxious to rebuild asap

I heard a person was found deceased in the rubble? Any word! Also I wonder how they will ever know what started it since its been torn down! I saw some pictures where the thing is torn down now.

Sad. I used to buy all kinds of stabby things at China Bazaar when I was a kid, my kids loved that store too.

Sad and surreal. So glad no one was hurt. Firefighters did a wonderful job. It was bad but could have been so much worse!
