I'm from Saudi Arabia I visited this city when I was studying the language in Oklahoma. It really is a beautiful city and its inhabitants are good.

With OKLAHOMA UNIVERSITY as its center Norman has grown so much. It's health care and hospital are ahead of their time because OU is known for its medical academics. Like any college town it is progressive in its ideas and is filled with interesting people. The city has employed only the best in planning commission and restoration committees. It now has all the best restaurants, eateries with healthy food being prioritized, the best in medical care, a mall, a bustling downtown area, a recreational lake with all the amenities, really everything a person could want packed into a tight knit community. I grew up in Norman and when we needed expert medical care, to go shopping or a nice restaurant, we had to head to Oklahoma City, 17 miles away. My family still lives there and those times are no more!

The people who would be responsible for downtown renovation should travel to Ft. Collins, CO and see what they have done with their downtown. The buildings are very much like downtown Norman and the area is thriving with foot traffic. It is the center of city activity in every way. As I remember, they have closed off many of the streets to vehicle traffic and created an area friendly to those who want to drink, dine, shop and otherwise enjoy themselves for a pleasant afternoon or evening. At the center of all of this is a permanent stage used for scheduled bands and, in the off times, used by "street musicians' who want to entertain. A great, great downtown area that we could learn a lot from and use their ideas to take our downtown area to the next level.

Norman is pretty much a one horse town. Its building up. esp on the west side and thus we r getting more people moving in from okc and out of state, its pretty quiet place overall, crime is low and we have some festivals etc but its not Denver! however its affordable. safe and close enough to okc to get to events there.

Yeah, pretty much. Norman is a good, if boring, town. Seems like the place you'd live in once your opportunities were complete or gone.
