Footage is shot on an overcast day but The Soo is really a beautiful town. I was born there in 1940 and there has been many changes...but I call it home. Thanks for this lovely drone coverage!

Although in my opinion, this city has nothing appealing, you video showcases it well. Love the music! 👍👍

Great drone footage Larry. It really gives a sense of what the city is like today from a completely different perspective. For a look back at vintage Sault Ste Marie please have a look at the video I made using music from the Soo's sax master Val Suriano, who sadly passed away in January.

Okay, that's it. From now on I'm looking up for these things. LOL. But seriously, after driving these streets for almost 40 years it's kinda cool to see them this way. It's just right altitude. You should have hovered low above the wooded area between Santa Maria apartments and the Government Dock. See if anyone's lurking in the bushes.

loved the old movie theatres, the Biltmore, the .princess. I miss the Royal hotel...my old dad drank himself to death there, do people still jump into the locks when they get laid off from the steel plant or Abitibi?
@KaptainCanuck5 жыл бұрын
Fenced off so jumping into the rapids is more difficult now.

This part of downtown was all small independent stores. And just like most cities, small stores lost out to the big chains. The chains have mainly been built along Great Northern Road as it provides room for much larger plots. This part of town is no longer the shopping hub it used to be and a significant portion of the stores along what used to be the downtown core, are now empty. Fine by me honestly. I enjoy the quiet. The drone in this video passes a couple hundred meters from my house at one point in the video :)

I love it now. In the last 2-3 years (sincerely thank you, Trudeau) our population of "East" Indians has grown quite a bit with those from India attending college or university here. We are also getting more multi-cultural with Filipino and (non-Caucasion) Muslim residents. I teach martial arts here and our student base in 2019 is about 40% from India.
