I grew up there; I moved away at 21 due to layoffs at Cessna. I moved back in 2008 and got laid off again at Hawker Beechcraft. I love Wichita and hope to move back someday; beautiful place.

I've been to Wichita one time and that was 1992 for a family reunion and I wouldn't mind going back I remember staying at the Ramada Inn very close by the Airport.

How about something taller for Wichita. Not necessarily a taller building but some sort of icon to represent Wichita. Like St Louis has the Arch which is 630 feet tall and Seattle has the Space Needle which is 605 feet tall. Like an observatory deck for the public and maybe even a restaurant at the top. Somewhere around maybe 550 feet tall.

That's the Epic Center. As John mentioned, it's the tallest building in Kansas and now owned by Phil Ruffin, a former local billionaire who resides in Vegas now.

Downtown is a ghost town. And whatever you do, stay out of Old Town after dark on the weekends. And, the homeless in the downtown area is something to behold. Our city officials are inept at best. The mayor had a pissing match with a cop recently, and that was HUGE news. The real problems-crime, homelessness, blight.....well that's not newsworthy.
