On this day a light south westerly was blowing on the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula. We started our downwind at Three Anchor Bay the foot of Table Mountain, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and headed towards Big Bay which signals the start of the incredible West Coast of Africa. After paddling out for a few kilometers we got onto a good line for the finish. The runs were 1 - 2 feet, slow moving, with very little ground swell. The conditions were great to coach in and Dawid and Jasper Mocke spent some time next to each paddler working on some skills. Jasper checked out on of a cargo ship as it lay waiting its turn to dock at the Cape Town Harbour. The size of those vessels is seriously overwhelming and it was amazing to see how the swells wedge up alongside the ship! The entry into Big Bay was fun with manageable runs right to the beach. We have paddled in this area but never this exact route. Paddling with the spectacular Table Mountain as our back drop was as special as ever.
