Hey, I have a PNG1300 and 1401 and thinking about selling them to get the 1300v2. I am on the Foil Drive and love the 1300 for learning to pump, wake thieving and small waves. I have struggled with the 1401 as just don't seem to have the lined-up conditions to unlock the mythical glide that I don't experience. Would the 1300v2 be the way to go? Or is there a Fireball that is better?...

Thanks for posting this very thorough review and also demonstrating how it rides in the video. The first thing you really demonstrated is just how easy this wing is to paddle up (I think you paddles ~ 5 strokes). Next thing surprising to see, was just how minimal pumping you were actually doing. There was a fair bit of chop out there, & you just cruised! 🏄♂🌊👏😎 I'm in my mid 50's as well & hopefully will be riding the V2 soon!

Nice to see you cruising! 🤌🤌🤌

Cheers Jason. Hope to be able to ride with you on the Peninsular when you are back in town. Although, a big contrast to Fiji. I am slowly getting used to the +60 fuse now.

@@foilingnz3658 sounds good, I’m keen to catch up. You also have a foil I’d love to try! 🤫 Used too and liking a little bit?

Would you say PNG1300v2 has significantly more low speed / starting lift than the Spitfire 1180 (my current)?

Yes. When you have plenty of wave energy, nice bumps and therefore easy paddle up, then the 1180 Spitfire should be fine. However, if your bumps are less than perfect (ie: challenging) then the 1300 PNG is a better tool for the job. If there are days when your 1180 Spitfire is frustrating to DW, then I expect the 1300 PNG will improve things.

Thank you for putting so much detail into the video description. Your justification for making the PNG 1300V2 your prime foil resonates with me on all aspects you mentioned (age, goal, wave type etc). Given your experience with a large range of foils could you advise me on whether it would suit me at 95kg? I started the DW journey in June with the 1401 and still haven't manged to get up on foil. This is because we have shortlength lake waves and being 95 kg I need to hit at least 12kmh to fly the foil. I can fly the foil behind a jetski but it's taken all summer to learn to paddle and pump up to those speeds. I want a different foil but the alternates all have less surface area than the 1401 and I'm worried that I won't get the "easier to paddle up experience". I'm wondering if the proto Spitfire 1270 would handle my weight more than the new PNG? I wonder what Adrian would recommend for a 95kg beginner in lake conditions? I've got the 45 and 55 Skinny rear wings and Crazyshort fuse

Yes, the V2 PNG 1300 would suit you for downwinding at 95kgs. Currently I cannot think of a better front wing to paddle up, other than maybe the V1 1300 PNG, but the V1 has weaknesses which the V2 doesn’t. 1300 (V1 and V2) to paddle up are easier than the 1401 ART PRO and 1270 Spitfire Proto. I can paddle up the 1401 and 1270 “easily” when the conditions are good, but when this isn’t the case I will have the 1300 (V1 and V2) every time. Are Axis going to do a bigger (1400?) PNG V2? At this stage no one knows. I also think the “original”, “standard” fuselage is best. This means it is not the Advance +40 or +60. This means that my “Short +0” as opposed to your “Crazyshort” is 6cm (if you are on the +60 Advance) further back in the boxes, with the “further rear” mast position helping the board to track straighter, making it faster to paddle. I have tested the Advance (+60) Short length with the 1300 V2 and prefer the +0 (ie: not Advance). There are many factors involved in the DW paddle up, but for me, I would take the PNG 1300 (V2 or V1) and the +0 Short length fuselage (red for V1 and black for V2) over your current setup of the 1401 ART Pro on a Crazyshort (Advance??) fuselage. Other factors are paddle experience, technique, board, mast position, type of mast, bumps, rear wing, paddle (brand and design). If your lake bumps are challenging then the 1300 PNG will improve your chances of increasing your foil time. Apart from fatigue, nasty bumps and rider error, I am only happy if I am 90% ++ time on the foil and my 1300 set up allows me to achieve this. Possibly this will change with more hours on the water.
