This album left a massive positive imprint on my life. The sound track of my early 20s. Best of times.

Can only imagine what this audio would be like with a few little tweaks here & there by an X-Pert who knows what they're doing. This is utterly priceless. Thank you to uploader Paul Watson so very appreciated. Best wishes from New Zealand.

From what I hear from people on the Tedeschi Trucks Band Fan group on Facebook: Yes, Susanna Melvoin on vocals, Chris Bruce on Bass and JJ Johnson on drums. JJ is currently the drummer for TTB. Thanks for this upload. It's wonderful. facebook.com/groups/TedeschiTrucksBandFans/

Amazing footage!!!! That is definitely the ACL stage, not sure why they never aired this one. Maybe this was a warmup to his eventual ACL episode??? Unfortunate as this is some excellent stuff. Coming off Jellycream which is by far my favorite DBII album!!!! Thanks for the upload!!!!

I'm guessing because Doyle was very unhappy with this performance. As you hear throughout the performance Doyle comments frequently about how the opening act was more rocky/edgier than his music and that he felt that he let the audience down somewhat by delivering less energy songs. (Not less energy for me)

There is another post from ACL where Wendy and Lisa are in the band. As for the bass player being Gary Clark, don't know- can't place him or her... All in all, always great to hear DB II !

+Greg Alexander the girl is Doyle's first wife Susannah Melvoin. Wendy's (Prince Purple Rain) sister. Wendy was probably there but that is Susannah on stage singing with Doyle for sure.
@fatbackfunk9 жыл бұрын
+Greg Alexander The bass player is Chris Bruce(also plays guitar)who Doyle has collaborated with for years. He's on both Jellycream & Welcome. And the drummer of coruse is JJ Johnson who's also on Welcome and now plays with Tedeschi/Trucks band. And like Pamela mentioned, Susannah Melvoin on vocals. Basically this is the original Smokestack lineup.

Does anyone know the correct tuning for "Close To Heaven" off of Jellycream ? Can someone in DBII's camp please axe for me ? He is a huge inspiration to me. It almost sounds like Open G ? that's a Yamaha head btw..he can get tone out of anything

Yup, a vastly underrated Yamaha DG130 digital amp modeler. He also used that on the Roger Waters tour.

I agree with you guys! I don't mind the new album, but the guy has serious guitar chops in Jellycream and Welcome. I feel like his older stuff is more raw and exciting. You can really feel the music with this older footage

And this is likely the reason why it was never aired. This taping must have been sometime in the middle of 2000. He mentions that Eric Clapton and BB King recorded I Wanna Be for their album which was released in June of that year.

Is that Gary Clark Jr on bass?
@wattienz9 жыл бұрын
Chris Townsend I honestly can't confirm BUT I would'nt say it was him. This footage is from around 15 years ago. Clark Jr was born in 1984, so he would have been around 15 or 16 at the time. I looked on his Wiki too. He started playing GUITAR at 12, and there was no mention of him playing bass
@bored2death8449 жыл бұрын
wattienz Thanks for the info!
@pamelamilan52709 жыл бұрын
+Chris Townsend the bass player is Chris Bruce from originial line up of Smokestack with Susannah Melvoin. Wendy's (Prince Purple Rain) sister singing vocal. Lil Doyle's first wife. No Gary Clark. He would have been about 10 yo when this was done
