I've just stumbled onto Doyle by accident while reviewing a guitar workshop lineup. He's without question one of the best finger picking guitarists I've ever seen. On top of that, as a midwesterner I really appreciate his southern roots. He's a fine example of what a guitar player should be.

lordkazama86...has it ever occurred to you that the reason Doyle plays mostly Country and Gospel is because he lives two hours from Nashville, plays often on the Grand Ole Opry and it is what his fans want to buy? It doesn't mean that it is all he is capable of. If you haven't heard him play other styles, you can "assure me" of nothing

Never seen Doyle live, but have seen one or two of his instructional vids released in the UK with Guitarist mag. I will never be as good as this guy, if I live to be a million. But I adore his style. Chet admired him, that should be enough for anybody. Yes, TE is brilliant as well - and there is room in the world for TE, Doyle, and a few others. I love Doyle's worh with Taylor as well - I am a Taylor owner - I've got the prototype 414CE and it's a lovely instrument

Doyle Dkykes is every Guitarist's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" Dream to reach for as a picker... that but very few folks like Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Solley, Stephen Stills, Eric Clapton, Doc Watson, Andres Segovia, and many other ethereal artists on guitar ever reach. Poet Robert Browning says it best: "Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp--or what's a heaven for?" Doyle is one of heaven's bequeathal's to the world during our time... Pure & Joyous!
