Wow....I've watched In the heat of the night for years and I never knew until now that Carroll O'Connor and his son was in the same show. This is the first time that I'm learning about his son Hugh had killed himself. That's so sad.

Timeline is messed up with Jason Ritter. 4:20 - He and Marianna Palka split in 2013, not 2023. He married Melanie in 2020 after dating her for a while. This explains why alcohol seemed to be a significant issue in their relationship (discussed at 4:50) because they've been together longer than one year!

You got the wrong Hugh O’Connor as a child at 54 seconds in. That’s the Irish actor Hugh O’Connor, son of the pianist John O’Connor. Hugh was also a child actor, famous for his role in Lamb with Liam Neeson in 1985, and subsequently My Left Foot.

It's a fairly common occurrence that if the son is the oldest child, they most closely resemble their mother. likewise, if the daughter is the oldest child, they look like their father. After that, it's a crap shoot. And why even bring up children who are adopted--they don't even share the same genes, so any resemblance is purely coincidental! Jason Ritter and Dirk Blocker look most like their fathers.

Why are you trying to find IDENTICAL FEATURES from parent to child?? It’s not always there. Genetics and hereditary traits sometimes skip a beat. Parents and children don’t always have the same nose… Get over it!! 🙄

Something that is being ignored. Genetically if you look at most sons. They tend to take after the men on their Mothers side. My brothers are built and look more exactly like my Uncle’s and Grandfather on Mom’s side. And my sons look more like my Dad and Brothers. And daughters tend to look more like the women on Dads side. I’m my Dad’s mini me. And my sisters look like a combination of my Grandma and Aunt. And 2 of my daughters look like my Sister in law. And my youngest daughter looks like her Dad.

So true! My son looked JUST like my dad at the same age 18. I have a photo of my dad at 17 or 18 tall and lanky and a photo of my son at the same age, with the same expression . My son saw the picture and said "Wow, so when I grow up I'm going to look like Papa?" In fact, the only child that took on my husband's family features is my middle child who is a girl. Also, my brother looks a lot like my mother's grandfather and I the middle child look very much like my father, I look just like his mom, especially now that I am 65. Every time a cousin sees me, they say I look just like our grandma.

@@justnerdystuff My youngest son looks exactly like my Dad at the same age. When my youngest son was little I didn’t see any resemblance to anyone in either my family or my husband’s family. Then when my son was 15 years old I REALLY saw the resemblance to my Dad in him. One day before a basketball ball game he was playing in. He came running out of the locker room. And all I could see was my Dad as a teenage boy. I snapped a couple pictures of him from different angles. I pretended like I was watching the game but instead I was thinking about where my Dad’s old high school year book was. The game ended and my son was going to a friend’s house for a sleepover. We packed up and left. And when we got home my husband went to sit on the couch and watch some tv and I went in search of his yearbooks. His first book I opened I went to the sports section. And there was my son’s face. Then I flipped through some of the candid pictures and yes there was my son. I made a bookmarker to mark the page and then a post it note. Then I looked through old pictures of my Dad and then I realized he always looked like my Dad. I just didn’t see it. Then I sat and found pictures of the youngest boy and I took a small piece of tape so they could be compared side by side. Later that night as my husband was heading up to bed he stuck his head in to say goodbye and I grabbed him and told him to come look at this. And he said he always saw little glimpses of my Dad in him. And I went up to bed. The next afternoon when my son came home. I showed him the pictures. And he was shocked he didn’t recognize how much he looked like his Poppy. Meanwhile before he got home each of our kids that came even close by me. I showed them the pictures random pictures and said who does he look like. And everyone said Chance. And then my youngest daughter (his twin sister) she asked how or when he got an old timey picture taken. My youngest son grew to be a couple inches taller than my Dad. And there is a picture of my Dad holding me as a newborn baby. And then my son at 28 holding my youngest granddaughter. I printed a copy of the picture in black and white. And they still look even closer. My son is worried he’s going to look like a shriveled up turtle like my Dad did when he got old. And I told him not to worry by then he won’t care. My twins turn 32 on tomorrow 9-14-24
