Having worked in LA on and off in the TV and film industry for 20 years, I can safely say that the non-union shows and contracts are practically criminal. The bare minimum for lead performers in a 30 minute program is 6-7k per week, and most union shows' performers are making well above that, especially if your show is a hit. Power Rangers had one of the worst reputations for exploitation, churning through cast members because frankly, they could. It's pretty tragic; they should have been rolling in residuals and had a tidy slice of profit sharing or buyouts from the merch and using their likeness, but nope... not as a non-union production. Saban made SO much money off all this!

I especially wonder what happened to the guy that was playing Bulk, he was extra obese during the show and probably had heart issues, is he still alive after all that time beyond the show ?? There's always a point of no-return about obesity.....

If you think about it, it's such a crazy business plan and insane that it was so successful: hey lets buy the rights to some random Japanese action TV show, dub over all the fight scenes, and mix in some really low budget scenes shot with a bunch of teenagers, writing our script around whatever footage we just happen to have. Absolutely wild.

To think that half of the original team would be dead by now. I know that's not a good thing to say but it still sucks. Despite their current and past troubles, they still deserved better. As for Austin's legal troubles (he's actually my favorite btw) I really hope he can redeem himself from this, I don't know why or how but with the right justice he can make the best out of it.

Wow, I had no idea there was that much scandal! I remember at school in the 90's, all the kids freaked out when the green ranger was introduced 😂 My favorite was both the Red and the Blue rangers. Blue being my favorite colour and red because I found a broken, discarded power ranger toy in the playground of the red ranger at the time. I remember the rich kid invited us class mates to his birthday party and we watched the first power rangers movie on VHS, and road 4 wheeler motorbikes around his huge property. I'm not kidding when I say...Bro, the 90's was AWESOME!

@@Zarkon619 with Super Megaforce using "modes never seen before," it makes me wonder if the production for s2 and s3 ever considered using the Dairanger and Kakuranger suits as power-up modes after the mmpr rangera morph, akin to the ninja powers. Of course, I know Kakuranger suits were used for the alien rangers, but it just makes me wonder.

I hate to speak ill of the dead but here's the truth. My mother worked on the show for 10 years, from Season 2 on to the final season that was filmed in Santa Clarita until the production moved to New Zealand. My brothers and I grew up on the MMPR set. In those days, Jason David Frank was a bully. He was not a nice guy. Many ofthe other rangers were incredibly kind. Especially David Yost. Yes. David Yost was bullied on set. He was bullied by Jason David Frank and Steve Cardenas, who was also terrible on that set to the other cast members. I'm not going to get into detail, but there were so many terrible things that happened on that set that were never made public. Things that would really ruin the show for some people. I'm sorry but you guys don't know the half of it, and I don't feel right saying much more.

I've been an actor for over 15 years and a member of SAG-AFTRA, and I will say this from experience. Getting a role in a show/movie is not as easy as some think out there. And even after you work a leading role in a show/movie it does not guarantee you anything after. Hollywood as they call it, is not for anyone with thin skin and it is actually getting worse since Covid struck. Less and less projects are being produced nowadays since our last Strike last year, and the one presently today with the video game industry - voice acting. Thankfully we have made the industry far more better than it was in the 90's and things like that happened with this show do not happen anymore, and if they did that is why we just need to make a call to the office and they take care of it fast! On a side note, it's funny I used to be mistaken for "Tommy" by the children which was pretty cool.

He went through a ridiculous amount of crap, I'm glad we live in a time now where he can be open about who he is, cause there is nothing wrong with him I wish David stood in solidarity with Walter, Thay & Austin (tho Austin being a raging homophobe would of made it difficult for him)
