Its nice that you guys cover your loads. Here in Wisconsin truck doing down the highway tossing stones everywhere. Seems they only cover asphalt and items going into a dump as required by the dumps to be covered.

Great job, wouldnt it have been easier to use a Barber Green asphalt spreader to apply the stone? Quicker, uniform thickness, saving time, money, and fuel ???

whats the benefit of using the dozer over using the grader? seems like a grader might be faster or not for this application?

does the plastic cause any problems with rain? or does that base pack hard enough to make the water just run off?
@letsdig188 жыл бұрын
+clay hunter its not plastic, its a layer of fabric that water can go through

How does the dozer operator know when it's putting down 6" of material?
@HughzieTube8 жыл бұрын

@autobots543890135 жыл бұрын
Torsee I always have figured you eyeball a 6 inch gap between the ground and bottom of the blade and that should get you pretty close. Any operators out there to verify?
@julianberger88268 жыл бұрын
why you use not a grader for spreading stone? So you need only one machine. You should install a front blade on your grader, so you can do easily both Jobs.I have a grader with front blade and I can do it very good rough grading and then i make my fine grading. ok, my grader is a bit bigger, it weight 16 tons, yours seem to be smaller

+samvt What does 'stabilization' mean? What does it stabilize?
@keithbrettell20588 жыл бұрын
+Darragh Mcdonagh So it's not going to be paved? I figured it had something to do with preventing chemicals ie. gasoline, diesel or motor oil from seeping into the ground and causing contamination.
@samvt8 жыл бұрын
The ground underneath. Fabric is used over sub grade often, to keep it from moving and yielding. Also can use another materiel called "geo grid" which is a plastic grid mesh you put underneath a lift of materiel and it will tighten way up. also Often when we build access roads into questionable areas we just lay fabric and stone over the nasty stuff and trucks won't get stuck. I've also put plenty of fabric down when doing building pads

Just a question, can't the trucks spread backwards over there or was that not needed? was thinking that might have been a time saver with only fine grading left to do. (not complaining at al only asking.) Cheers from Sweden^^
