DP/30: Crimson Peak (and The Martian), Jessica Chastain

She emerged fully formed in 2011 with 5 films and her first Oscar nomination. A whole year later, she was nominated again. With four high-profile films last year, she seems almost underrepresented with just 2 films this year. But one is the smash hit The Martian and the other is the Gothic romance from Guillermo del Toro, Crimson Peak. She spoke to David Poland about the films and finding her footing in a very successful, very busy career.

I love Jessica Chastain! She is so warm & lovely. Very Talented. I saw Crimson Peak with my husband on his birthday, which was Halloween & the movie was a Gothic Victorian Horror but not like a typical horror movie. It was a dark, ghost, romance story. I liked her character Lucille, because it was different than what she has played & you can see the range of emotions towards the end when her character is more free like she talked about. This was a great interview!
