Maybe close to 60 year's ago, I don't recall exactly, but I was maybe 8 or 9 or so, our family went on vacation. We didn't have much money, we went to the East coast, DC, Virginia, etc.. and we rode by Robert and Ethyl Kennedy's home, we actually pulled in their driveway, and backed up to turn around. Their family was in the front yard, I think playing football. I do remember some of them looking at us, probably wondering who are these hillbillies, lol, but they seemed so nice and genuine. We waved, and several of them waved to us, even some of the children waved. We just wanted to see their home, and pulled in just enough to back out and turn around. They all just seemed like regular folks. Of course they lived in a lot nicer of a house than I did in the project's, lol.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful memory. It was just fine with them that you pulled into their driveway; they love everyone. The first time I went to DC, I drove to Hickory Hill to see that house. As you may remember, there is a narrow connecting lane down the side of their property. Alongside that narrow drive is the famous tennis court of Hickory Hill. I stopped next to the tennis court and parked for a long time, just taking in all that huge yard, the eternal house, and thinking about all that went on there in our history. Your family and I have been blessed, haven't we!

What a woman, what a mom, what a marriage partner. As a 63 year old mom and a grandmother, Rory, I believe your mom set your foundation with her ease, silliness, intelligence, commitment to change, and her allowance of you kids to explore life. I am a new fan of your mother's. She would have made an incredible first lady. I would have loved to see that White House mayhem! Wonderful project and it needed to be done. Even in the midst of production for the film, at least two tragedies happened within the family. Georgeann Skakel Dowdle, the daughter of Georgeann Skakel Terrien, who was the sister of Ethel Skakel Kennedy, died on the 61st anniversary of Ethel and Bobby's wedding. Months later, Kara Kennedy Allen died also.

Aside from all the pointless bickering here I have to say that I really love the family values and work ethics of the Kennedy family. They are humanitarians and truly inspire me to be the best I can be and thrive to do better. Bobby and Jack were hard working all American men who wanted to serve their country to the best of their abilities and that spread through their families. I am Canadian and STILL they inspire me to this day.

I am 58 and I have always grown up admiring Ethel, I would have loved to meet her. I don’t know her but I know she would been an awesome role model, someone you would stop everything for just to hang out with. I will try to watch her story, I was only 3 when RFK was assassinated but that one make me more sad than when JFK was assassinated. I can’t really explain why, but for me that was so sad, I know I would have been a mess if I had been old enough to understand that day. So to me Ethel in simple words is just badass! And I love reading and learning all things Ethel! God bless her!❤🙏

I have been reading a book called The Basket of Flowers (Illustrated) written by Cristoph Von Schmidand saw someone had hand written the name Rory in it. I searched the name that brought me here. How strange, I have been watching videos by Robert F Kennedy Jr over the last couple of months. He is the most amazing person I ever tuned into. He apologies for his voice but, always makes himself perfectly clear. But, before coming here I saw a beautiful picture of Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy. She is very young looking and beautiful like her mama Ethel. Sounds like it is an interesting film. I'll see if I can find it. Thank you for sharing.

Jackie Kennedy reportedly once was asked to name her one outstanding achievement. Her children, she responded. Despite her many accomplishments, Ethel could say the same thing. Jackie had grace; Ethel had cojones. They both raised children dedicated to public service who do/did not suffer from silver spoon syndrome. Ethel Kennedy was an incredible woman. As a mother, I cannot imagine the looming yet very real spectre of Jimmy Hoffa. This is Ethel's story, not Bobby's.

I was 12 years old when Martin Luther King and RFK died a very impressionable time and age for me. I watched RFK on the T.V. news going from place to place. Ethel is such an important part of this country…of OUR country’s history to be honest. Look at all the good that Jack & Robert were trying to accomplish….stopping George Wallace from blocking the entrance of the university, and preventing blacks from entering…by threatening to send the military to him. Let’s not forget the videos of Robert putting Jimmy Hoffa in place. Hoffa was….not happy. They kept killing Kennedy’s. A lot of bad people were simply jealous of this beautiful, bright, and vivacious wealthy American family. Jealousy, just pure jealousy. Ethel stood strong, a widow while pregnant, 11 children. I mean, she is a perfect example on how to heal from a traumatic event. You heal with love and optimism. I had 5 children, it is hard with 5, and I cannot even try to comprehend what it was like for Ethel. Everyone should see the HBO biography Ethel. I love watching it every year or so. I have never seen such a loving couple like Robert, and Ethel were, especially with their children around. Thank you for sharing your story Ethel. You inspire me to be a more optimistic, and stronger woman, especially in times of trauma. Thank you for your daughter for making this happen, well…mom said yes, that’s why it happened!. Thank God she did! 😌🙏💖
