I really like how she doesn’t ’complicate’ the editing process. She is humble, extremely successful and approachable. She, and those like her is the side of Hollywood that really makes it worth saving. The more I study her the deeper my respect.

I am absolutely amazed at how these "older" editors, be it Schoonmaker, Michael Kahn, Walter Murch... who blossomed in the 70's alongside great directors, keep changing it up and being incredibly dynamic in the twilight of their lives... It's just awe-inspiring. The love, the passion for the craft... Same goes for great DP's... Long live great film artists. Long live Scorsese.

Great interview. Such a wonderful and sweet lady- well spoken and amazingly talented. Scorsese and Schoonmaker...one of the most fruitful partnerships in the art of cinema. Thank you BOTH for continuing to make awe-inspiring films and your contribution to keeping cinema alive and fresh.

i agree who other director would embrace the new trend of 3D at 70 years old? NON martin scorsese doesnt have to prove anything to anyone at this point and yet he goes with the flow and embraces the changes in cinema. hes an astonishing human being other directors need to follow in his foot steps... his use of 3D made me love 3D because of hugo! and that movie is just a masterpiece in an of itself and he is a true visionary

Stop with the zoom already! For crying out loud. Sit still! Thumbs down on the zoom. Thelma gets five stars. Please focus on the subject's eyes, not her nostrils.

@echi2567 From the EditShare website: "Academy® and Emmy® award-winning Lightworks was introduced in 1989 as the first and most advanced non-linear editing system on the market and quickly gained fame thanks to editors such as Chris Gill and multi Oscar-winning Thelma Schoonmaker."
