Yeah, they had a plan from start to finish. Every update completely revamped the game. After they finished main progression 1.4 was about competing and perfecting the game. Not to compare it to Minecraft but Minecraft has had many identity crisis' and overall has many poor updates to what a game like Minecraft could offer.
@user-tv4gb6os8u4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's better this way but it's still sad, I remember dreaming about the 1.4 update in 2016 and what it could bring... now I'm dreaming about 1.5 haha.

@@randomguyontheinternet7940 Minecraft definitely suffers from a lack of overall vision. Seems to be trying to take a wide but shallow approach. I do appreciate them finally trying to clean up and codify how redstone is supposed to work with 1.16 though. At the end of the day, it feels like Minecraft is built to be a sandbox that you build in, survival mode is just there to give you a reason to build farms and such, and figure out how to farm certain bosses like the wither. Any actual progression it has is just a chore to be completed before you're off building massive castles and whatnot. Terraria, on the other hand, definitely has more of a hill to climb, because the climbing is the goal. Its wiring is a lot more limited than Minecraft's redstone, and while there's a lot of different furniture and blocks to build with you're obviously limited by the foreground/block layer/background dynamic, as well as how rigidly the different themes adhere to themselves in a lot of places. The games are both good, and they have different things to offer to different people. Personally I'm excited to see where modders take Terraria now that it has a definitive version to work with, because I love what modders have done with Minecraft.
@randomguyontheinternet79404 жыл бұрын
@@beautifulnova6088 One thing I keep forgetting to mention in Minecraft is it's enemy variety. Outside of any events or dimensions you just fight the same five enemies, over, and over, and over again. The enemy AI in Minecraft and it's lack of true incentive is definetly it's biggest flaw.

I remember when Terraria first came out on the Amazon app store, they had it up for free and I quickly downloaded it on my Kindle Fire, after that, it became my most played mobile game. I remember the night 1.3.4 was released on Mobile, after not getting selected to beta test, I was super hyped for its release, and I stayed up all night! Then some weird things with the play store delayed it a bit. But as soon as I got it, I converted my Amazon world I've had since day 1 (I'd been worried I'd have to wait for it to come out on the Amazon app store to do that) and it, was amazing! I've since put that world onto my computer and it's so fun finally having so much new content for that near decade old world of mine. It's sad to see Terraria go, but boy am I happy it ever existed. Potentially thousands of hours wasted on the crappy mobile version, and hundreds more to come on PC, Terraria is definitely one of the best games of all time

Hey there, long-time Terraria fan and mod creator for tModLoader here. I do agree that having tModLoader as an official mod for Terraria (yes, it's a mod, not a DLC) on Steam has brought more attention to it than before Journey's End dropped, and that's taking into consideration that tModLoader was already popular! Elaborating on that, having tModLoader be accessed from the Steam store instead of by running some files in a zip archive has definitely increased the spectrum of the user base, for the better and for the worse. (hahaaa) That being said, it's incredible to see how _drastic_ of a difference there is of the early v1.0 builds of Terraria compared to the Journey's End update. Re-Logic went all out on this one, and I think that we're all grateful for it. The game's journey may have meet its End, but it will live on forever in our hearts. Here's to hoping that Terraria becomes a timeless classic!

Probably my only major complaint about 1.4 was that Master Mode really isn't that fun. Like, at all. I've owned a copy of terraria since Christmas 2011, and have almost six hundred hours spent in it. I don't consider myself especially good or anything, but I've always been comfortable with Expert Mode since it came out and figured Master wouldn't be too much tougher to get into. Unfortunately, Master Mode just takes the mechanics of Expert Mode and scales everything up. Enemy HP, damage, etc. Expert Mode introduced new boss patterns and other engaging mechanics that Master Mode just... didn't. 1.4 is still one of my favorite updates; the game looks gorgeous now, better than ever, Journey Mode is great for a less stressful playthrough (looking at you, blood moon on the first night of hardmode) and although I'm not really into terraria golf it's still fun to see how others have made their courses and such. Also wind. Wind is cool, even if the music with it is a little bit much.

I remember a couple of years back when I couldn't enter the game on my iPad, which frustrated me to no ends, until, a couple of months later, when a new update came out mentioning a player who's game would crash whenever they tried to go in and I was certain that it was talking about me.

You forgot to mention that in early versions you could guzzle HP pots with no cooldown at all! And that the cacti would damage you if you try to walk past them, and they also had collision, so early game desert was that much harder.

I bought this game back in 2011 but I never really liked it that much, I have 27 hours on it, but this video made me so emotional to see these devs treat their game with utmost respect. Great video and great developers.

I remember playing Terraria on my old Xbox 360 with a friend, and absolutely loving it about four or five years ago. I stopped playing for a couple years, and had heard there was a new update coming out, so I decided to spend the luxurious 10$ on Steam, and am loving it again. It feels like the same game I used to play, but there's so much I missed, so I get to discover it again. My 10 year old self would be freaking out over this :')

Back when i was really young (4-6 years old) this game was so popular in our family, now the only piece of evidence that includes a lot of time and work into the game (which means we've been playing for a long time) is on our old xbox 360. My oldest brother (18-19 years old) has done a lot of work into the xbox 360 terraria, we have a huge variety of weapons, wings, armor, and so many NPCs. Terraria has changed a lot and i'm really sad to see "Journey's End". I wish i could tell the people who made Terraria that their work is beautiful and brought so many memories to the world. btw i'm 11 now, hitting double digits was CRAZY

Played Terraria back on the PS3 around 2013-2014 because I got inspired by a KZbinr to try and copy their entire playthrough. My first night? Spent it in a tree or small as hell wooden shack because I was horrified, lmao. Good memories, even though I stopped playing after that because I was to afraid until years later. Very good memories.

I felt a bit of... digust? When someone asked me to play Terraria. I was a dumb kid back then. I finally decided to pick it up on the 1.4 release day and oh boy. It's more addicting than drugs and enjoyable as hell! Even though I don't feel the nostalgia, It's still very fun to play. Thanks to Re-Logic for creating such a great game.

I started playing terraria 5 months ago. When Journey's End update was released, me and my 2 friends played so much multiplayer and we had so much fun moments. This game is probably never gonna get boring, for 10$ its such a good game.

I loved this game to bits, throwing away a guide voodoo doll in lava by PURE mistake, i "discovered" hardmode and loved the game even more. I made friends and lost them, but i will never forget the fun this game brings when you're playing alone, or with friends.

Man it's been a Journey. I first started playing Terraria on the Xbox 360 after watching Stampy do his playthrough on it. As your normal 10-ish year old kid would do. Sadly my Xbox 360 broke and I lost all of my Terraria progress. I picked the game back up on Xbox One, played it all the way through, and then finally on Steam. The Mobile and 3DS versions are dabbled here and there in my life time too. Overall, I've got about 900 Hours total from all platforms. Thank you Terraria for being such a great game!

"1.4 is the last major update!" hehe... good one For those confused... RE-logic is infamous among the community for this whole "Last update" stuff, they went back on their words many times haha, but we love them for that, if they didn't we would still be stuck in 1.1 probably, since this is when Red (The dude who made the game in the first place) first said that Terraria was "Done"... we know how that turned out lol, not complaining though... FAR from it.

I don't even know how many all-nighters I pulled with my friend just playing Terraria mobile. I still remember about 6 years ago when he accidentally trashed a Terrablade while trying to reforge. Good times. Terraria is easily one of the best games of all time, and I'm exceedingly happy it got to where it is now. Thanks Re-Logic :D
