I blocked off my egrs leaving the valves in place got a CEL but she runs like a champ and still does regens

I'm at the dealer and have had to replace these also. Honestly not a horrible job. I pull the upper and lower cowl when I do these. Takes a few extra minutes but opens up the engine bay alot. Hardest part I have is lining it back up and over the studs. But leaving everything loose helps

Also curious, is this high mileage vehicles or city drivers? What's the sign to replace it? Throw a code or does it start to Regen more often?

hey man, i have to replace that temp sensor under the egr. do you remember where it was plugged in? on the frame or something. im trying to get an idea before i dive in. thank you for the video by the way. i needed it for better visualization.

For the love of God what a nightmare...perhaps I missed a vid or something but how the fook does a DPF blow out? Any preventative tips or tricks to avoid this will be a Godsent. I hope the warranty is covering everything you had to change including your Labour!!! I'm about to start ordering majority of the upgrades you've done to date (Hopefully the DPF will not be part of it --wink wink) I know some gains will come of from them but I know it's not enough. I have the 23 AT4 3.0....love it for the most part but it really needs more power. I thought a chip would be a solution but apparently not. I am going to get a 2800-3000 stall converter as I love the feel of them I know its not actual HP gains. To be honest I was hoping you came up with something!! I can only think of a larger turbo...but not sure of cost. I'll definitely update once I get some stuff put on. First up is the K&N with the PPE Zilla pipe. Was on my way to the dealer yesterday for an oil change and got a MIL out of nowhere. First time I've ever had a code pop up on my 2020 LM2. Plugged in my OBD dongle and read faults with Torque just before I got there. The lovely P2C7A. They did the oil change, but I guess the tech didn't have time for more than checking a few things. Gotta take it back next week for full diag. Hopefully one of the simple fixes and not something like this. I've always had exhaust smell in the cab since new and every time I've mentioned it they've said it's likely just regen. I know that's BS. Remote start in the winter with auto HVAC is the worst. Hop in after letting it warm up for 3-5 minutes and the smell is horrible. Setting HVAC to recirc mostly makes it go away. I've always wondered if mine has the bad weld on the backpressure valve. Welp, now they have an actual reason to find out where it's coming from. Kinda surprised it has made it this long without throwing a code.

It needs a backpressure valve. The welds leak on them. I've changed them before and so have other techs here. Also have seen the intake resonators leak at the turbo. Any induction/exhaust leaks can cause P2C7A and will plug the reductant injector, causing an incorrect spray pattern, causing this code. There also may be software updates. I've had luck with fixing the leaks, replacing reductant injector, updating to latest calibrations, and running a service regen on all the ones that come in with that code and have yet to see one back

I had this very issue on my 20 LM2... They ended up replacing some parts of the exhaust after countless fights at the dealer. They all agreed it wasn't normal but they couldn't find a leak. I ended up having more problems with the truck and traded in for a 21 LM2 and I've got 30k on this and all is good so far.

What did the inside of the egt cooler look like? If it was dirty do think the new fass egt filter would be worth it?

It can't be too bad considering it's downstream of the filters. It's the cleanest the exhaust you can get.

Recently purchased a 23 Suburban duramax 14000miles no major service has been preformed. When i got it home and on ramps i found a 15mm bolt 2 inches long round on end. Flange head with a thick washer caged on it laying on the skid plate. Dealer did 15 second look and gave up. Thoughts?

How many miles were on it? Looks relatively clean.

Put a carbon monoxide detector in the cabin, and see if it goes off. If you’re smelling pure exhaust then there is a leak before the DPF. You really don’t smell exhaust that’s exiting the tail pipe.

Similar, the filter assembly is larger as there are 2 where this was one and the backpressure valve is no longer right there. mostly the same though.

This is good BUT, if you can't give the codes it threw or the suspected cause, i.e. nothing but short trips, defective DPF, excessive DEF injections, SOMETHING, then this is of very little practical use to most of us who have these engines.

I left out details for many reasons, but one of which is that the internet can get so focused on one issue that someone else had, they assume they all have this issue and that specific code would mean this is their exact issue.
