to shed some light on ur question abt how much is the lore bit and how much is irl experiences mito and mr insanity are characterizations of his irl alters from his DiD, he def built a lore around them u can see in his mvs, while also being based w/ his experiences living with them. He has mentioned even during his songs, when he switches so does the song he was working on at the time. for one, in the coloured parts of the So Beautiful MV hes himself as ian, and hes constantly waking up in an unfamiliar place, this is a parallel to his irl experiences cuz he explains when returns from his "mito" alter hes in an unfamiliar place, surrounded with unfamiliar people, and has no memory of how he got there, so tl;dr its a bit of both, hes making a story based on his irl experiences

also u mentioned how some songs sound like they could be abt someone else but also rlly himself, i think it could very well possibly a double entendre, like on the surface level it seems that way but those who know the intent behind the album can interpret it with fresher eyes

he definitely does make love songs! but if we talk specifically about "merry go" - it's also about his relationship with mito, how he had these destructive cycles of trying to deny or get rid of mito. very similarly, "winterfall" could be both about a romantic relationship and the relationship between mito and mr insanity (since he's his creator/god)

Calico is a reference to MIITO MOVIE (Part 1), which takes place in the mining ghost town in Calico, California.

At the end of winterfall when he sings "No I get what you mean when you wanna feel..." he talks about Mito (his alter), Ian wanted Mito to dissapear because living together obviously is hard because when he switch he blacks out and Mito take the lead and when Ian comes back hours, days or even weeks after the switch he has to know what Mito did during all that time so It's pretty hard but here in the song he says that he understand him and know that It's also hard for him. If you wanna know how Mito feels check out the song he made himself Skins he also is the one in the MV!

Fun fact is the female voice u hear is actually his voice altered lol not a sample. Sad ur not going to react to any interviews cause he is so interesting to listen to i think u would get a lot out of it. Hope u react to his latest album as well tho :)

I think a lot of the songs are him speaking to himself, and some mention a lover. Because in Nerves, from the album before- he switches perspectives between saying "you" (speaking to someone) and saying "him" to describe himself and "her" (taking about someone, not TO). So it switches between 2nd and 3rd person. Also MIITO and Mr.Insanity aren't just characters, he said he's based them off of his real alters. And the part in ballroom extravaganza where he says "when all the kings horsemen and all the king's men" is a reference to the nursery rhyme of "humpty dumpty" lol I was so surprised when you said "Taylor swift. And finally, manic episodes aren't a good thing. As someone who's felt with them, they're not great. You become really impulsive and hyperactive to an unnatural degree and they can go on for days.
