I have been a student of this country for decades starting in the 80's by monitoring shortwave radio, both the voiced and radiotelegraph broadcasts of Radio Pyongyang. The 1871 empire was the Second German Empire. The first empire was the Holy Roman Empire, which was dissolved by Napoleon in 1806. It was sometimes called the German Empire, but anyone calling it that at such a late date would likely have meant it sarcastically.

@@michaelsladnick5482 Those were definitely not the borders of the HRE. And Historian don't call it the first German empire. The Nazis were the ones to invent that term! Usually a combination of both. Domestic sources provide a lot of detail and then international sources often help to back up that information. I feel that the title is slightly misleading, as there is more to be explained. Are these actual games (i.e. is there sports being played)? If yes, what sports and who is participating? Are games being held just in Pyongyang? Why is it so irregular, with uncertainty about frequency and dates? Thanks.
@DPRKExplained2 жыл бұрын
The Mass Games is the name given to the Mass Gymnastic Displays held in Pyongyang. The Soviet Spartakiad had sports events with a gymnastic performance at the opening, although these days the term 'Mass Games' is relatively ubiquitous in referring to the Mass Gymnastics.
