The biggest thing I can tell holding Xiao back isn't his damage numbers, it's the amount of time it takes to do multiple plunge attacks vs wanderer who normal attack spams. I'm really impressed with Xiao's performance here.

the biggest thing that is holding xiao back is that when u have a showdown between 2 c6 units that both have godly artifacts, everything still dies too fast (I mean, just look at that lvl 100 aeonblight drake comparison, I struggle to take it down with a FULL TEAM in under 90 seconds), so naturally whoever has the lowest delay between attacks would come out on top. In an endurance test between xiao and wanderer, I reckon the latter would come out on top.

Maybe 100% Resistance to interruption instead of 100% Defense is better. Makes you able to go without a shield so long as you have Bennett you're good. C1 works only if you need just 2 rotations, but something that you can work around with. An extra 2 or 3 particles can be solved by other units. The constellation upgrade for the skill is meh as it would only truly see significant change when you have C6. As for the burst upgrade constellation, he already has so much dmg bonus that it barely gives more damage. You don't go for that constellation because if you ever spend, you go for C6 all the way. But C6 makes that burst constellation nearly insignificant because you'll then be spamming skills, not plunges. As for that ER bonus when off field, that is also freaking stupid. Why the heck would we even want Xiao off field when catching particles? It's the same level of useless as the Defense buff. If I were to get constellations, make one of them "Plunge attacks will decrease enemies defense by 30%." And the other would be "For every enemy hit with a plunge attack, restores 2 energy to Xiao. Maximum energy restored up to 20 energy."

As if Albedo would be the dedicated shielder for Xiao or something. Not to mention nearly all of Venti's constellations or Qiqi's.

Well if new player ask me they want anemo dps, I'd recommend Wanderer over Xiao. Why? The answer is he is easier to build. Even Lost Prayers, Widsith and Skyward are as good as his bis weapon and he is fun as hell so you can assure they will enjoy this game.

RIGHT!! i play in raiden coop for fun and whenever i bring my (admittedly pretty bad cause i got him a few days ago and still don't have a good 4pc shimenawa) wanderer some petty mfs always decide to bring heizou or xiao to feel superior to me cause they have the "better" anemo unit. jokes on them they always end up dying and i end up carrying usually with another teammate that's a healer or buffer or something similar

the level of Anemo DPS scales from how much they have lost: Heizou and Kazuha: lost a friend and are so powerful, they make new play styles Xiao: lost all his siblings, he became the mascot to a countey Venti: lost his brother in arms, he became an Archon

Nice video. Outside of damage though, Wanderer definitely wins 100%. He can FLY, which is very useful on horizontal distances without ground, like the top of mountain areas, over water, etc. Only he can reliably cross those distances. Also has the highest vertical flight of any character. He also has the fastest dash for exploration, albeit having a slightly shorter duration than Yelan’s skill. But he still wins because its cd is just 6s over Yelan’s 10s. He has low CD and is not burst-dependent, which is the best design for any character in the overworld. No need to wait for burst cd and energy when fighting just hilichurls lol. Plus his NAs are homing! Literally the best & most fun overworld character, no one else comes close

Wanderer not being a burst reliant character easily makes him superior to many other dps characters . And he probably would be top 5 in overworld exploration. Though I do believe that xiao is still better than wanderer in many cases just because of his mid air movement . In my opinion both are pretty good characters but I like wanderer more anyway.

Xiao and Wanderer have the same dynamic as Childe and Ayato. Both are more or less equal at damage potential at c0, but one has significantly better constellations than the other

Maybe, but because Chide and Ayato are Hydro, that changes the usefulness of the characters as supports for other dps characters. Like. Ayato is great and all, but Childe as a hydro applier can't be beat. Especially for Xiangling. Especially if you know how to play him. He also has a random nuke burst which is always nice and riptide. Comparing Childe and Ayato's dynamic to Xiao and Wanderer's may seem obvious enough to do, but realistically, those dynamics are completely different. And that's mostly due to the element they possess

He's a good unit to sub into places if you don't have or don't want to use a specific character. Childe by contrast has amazing teams, but isn't as flexible. At most it’s a play style preference at that point and since it’s genshin the difference really doesn’t matter. It's what happens when DPS characters get Powercrept, same thing happened to Diluc, Klee, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Childe mains, etc, Xiao mains were spared since he used to be the only anemo DPS. This is why in gacha games you always pull for the support/utility characters

Just saying, but xiao's runs feel like they're a lot more skill oriented than wanderers... Personally, I think the most impressive part here is keeping both xiao and wanderer alive throughout the abyss run... They're both very squishy, especially wanderer

I always felt the same. A lot of people complain about Xiao gameplay, when they don't realize that jump+plunge can be used very skillfully through timing in order to dodge attacks, which makes the Experience that much more enjoyable. As for the Wanderer, unfortunately being unable to freely dash in the air makes him appear less "skillfull" since you want to keep those point to extend dps

It takes skill to dash at the right moment, that's true, but it still feels a bit bad to be limited that much to the point that it's just better to get a shielder for the sake of dps. Don't get me wrong, Xiao also has a bit of that issue (though I consider every jump a long window for him to be "invulnerable") but not as much as the Wanderer, at least that's how it felt for my first 2 weeks using him.

Theres a point in damage where Regisvines should not be used as test subjects. Its more about who "bursts faster" in rotation than who has the best potential. That said people that said Xiao lost for his constellations keep not understanding Xiao's flaws. The damage boost in this showcase came mostly from *the supports* The only constellation that really boosts Wanderer's damage considerably is C6 for a higher constant dps potential. C2 is good but is used to end a rotation a bit faster, its not the main point of his kit. So if both were C1, would Xiao have won some of the "burst" categories in the showdown? Yes, but on sustained dps he would be pretty much *equal* to Wanderer once you get rid of the Aoe issues that both have and supports/speedrun scenarios trivialize. To really get an idea of how good each one is you need lesser supports (on the level of an average player instead of leviathans) and then put them against one big single target and a boss followed by a bunch of mobs of different qualities right after. With that scenario Wanderer would win the first one and be tied to Xiao in the second, and this counting them at C0-C1, making Wanderer the winner regardless. Xiao's loss doesnt come from constellations, it comes from his locked rotation that flows unnaturally unless he kills the things in a single one, which is what cracked supports help you do.

But the real fair showdown at their C0. C1 are okay but new recent characters gain huge dmg increase from C2. That's not true, Hu Tao, Itto, Eula, Raiden, Ayaka, Kokomi, Ganyu, Ayato, Childe etc are as good/better or on par as new characters, the only recently new characters that are better without a doubt is Nahida, Yelan and Nilou.

@@Hhhh22222-w C0 yes they are comparable. But Constellations wise the value of every Constellations and C6 are like day and night. What i mean new/recent released characters more like start from kazuha/ayaka release or should i say from inazuma characters released. Characters Constellations starting from inazuma release are broken. Pre eula Constellations are still not that great but C6 eula is where they starting to made Constellations are more broken/more value than previous characters Constellations. Even raiden C2 maybe looks better than some C6 pre eula characters. I think the only too far broken C6 are come from inazuma characters. And i feel after sumeru characters release they tried to tuned it down to be not too broken. So far all C0 are safe and balanced but there is one broken characters that not the E or Q or Constellations that makes her literally broken but only from the passives, that character is nilou. The bloom as main source of damage that can Quadratic scaling literally with no cooldown from the passives(bountiful core) just trigger elemental reaction bloom and deal at least 20 ~ 30 k minimum if well build and it fast. Imagine ayaka her burst as main source damage without cooldown or energy she just spam it, that is nilou bountiful core bloom passive looks like lmao. And her team just as you mentioned are better characters are nilou, yelan, nahida and the last piece is kokomi who people thought at first she was bad lmao. Kokomi hoyo favoritism is real here from Artifacts, monster designed for her and now the perfect broken team and with low investment for her. And some tier list still think nilou is not top tier lmao. She literally can fight any elements monsters. No restriction besides single target condition that will makes her balance lmao

It’ll be really nice to see different teams viabilities for Abyss and comments on clear speed, ease of use w/ healing/shielding/grouping/lack of dps or nuke if needed vs certain bosses, and other stuff e.g. : - how mono geo teams fare vs elemental for this abyss cycle - how anemo dps centric teams such as xiao/wanderer/heizou fare vs others - dendro and its hyperbloom/bloom/nilou bloom/quicken/aggravate/burgeon or burning teams fare - physical teams such as eula/razor (i think there’s only those two tbh lmao) and obv their best team setups to optimize their run - Morgana vs traditional elemental reactions team like melt, HuTao vape, Yoimiya vape but I understand it’s difficult to cover all these different teams every Abyss cycle :’(

Great video as always, I just wish you add C0 comparison with 4 star weapon even if it is just the math and not showcase I just got C6 Faruzan after 235 pull and my c0 r1 Xiao can now plunge for 100k which is cool and my Wanderer hit 20-25k/normal but he is still only at all lvl 6 talent while my Xiao is crowned. Honestly I like Wanderer more cuz I find his playstyle more fun and he is not tied to his energy so he is more flexible in all content but on AOE and some tough enemy Xiao is better so that's that

Great video. If you consider the added factor that many of us mere mortals aren't going to be able to drive Xiao as well as this showdown, Wanderer comes out even further ahead. the only problem i personally have with c0 xiao is actually his energy. I havent had him pushing back character problems for a long time cz the abyss just doesnt have characters like that anymore. even the ones that get knocked come running back. The only problematic mobs are fungi, specters and slimes.

For me i really dont like burst centric character. nowadays its E then infusion. Xiao is NOT compatible in the overworld enemies, you either use E only or use burst then no burst for the next enemy

Signature set isn't a huge deal at that level of investment. Besides I wouldn't say demolished. He won pretty decisively in ST but failed behind in AoE without Kazuha. Which I said before. Venti/Kazuha trivialise AoE content. A more AoE budget option outside this 2 would have Xiao with a bigger gap.

C0 battles are heavily artifact dependent and very varied since C0s don't reach their characters full potential, in other words, long term Wanderer mains will always have a higher DMG ceiling than Xiao mains, meaning he will still be relevant in the future, so yes there is reasons to be happy, not to mention Wanderer has more team flexibility and utilities than Xiao, overall it's just means Wanderer is a better option as an anemo hypercarry.
