Supposed to do this trip two years ago but was disturbed by Covid.. We jump on It the minute we have a chance.
Still a productive spot with plenty of bigfins..

Hey is it true squid fishing is best with water temperatures above 20 degrees?

Hey it made sense that they’ll be more active with water above 20 degrees as they’re neritic warm water-dwellers from the tropical region. This are bigfin reef squid I’m talking about..

Hey dixon, do you prefer morning or afternoon eging?

I do eging base on tide and not timing. Squid are generally more active when water is not so fast thus neap tide days are preferred. For land base, I normally play 1 hr before high tide till 1hr after high cos that’s the time when water is slow and full. Slow because squid prefers it and full because you wouldn’t snag your egi so easily.

You should check Dixon's Fishing channel. He is an Australian angler, excellent video production and catches a lot of monsters. Also, have you ever tried the non Japanese style eging retrieves? Like little hops and slow roll?

Little hops and slow rolls are only applicable on sandy seabed. Places and areas where squids are active for us are filled with reefs and rocks. Thus it’s not suitable for us as it will increase the chances of snagging our squid jigs. Will check out Dixon’s Fishing channel. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙇🏼‍♂️🙇🏼‍♂️🙇🏼‍♂️
