This is as much fun as watching a good detective movie. I really appreciate how you walk us through your errors and the logic you use to work through the problem. Brilliant.

I have several units of Carver equipment and I just love them! Well made and easy to work on. 5 different Amps, 3 pre-amps and a couple of Tuners. Great vid. Thanks.

I came here looking for a carver review only to quickly learn thats not what this was. I watched anyway and thank you for being detailed. My carver will arrive tomorrow

Same amp. Seems like I’m chasing the same issue. Thank you for this!

Interesting failure symptoms, but the failure itself was quite common in the power rail. Thanks for interesting vid.

Nice. I’m currently working on a carver MCR-2000 with a short on the “red” secondary as well. Must be a design flaw. The schematics are so hard to read! For the MXR-2000, the paths jump from board to board and there are 5 bridge rectifiers. It’s crazy. I think your video will help me resume diagnosis of this receiver. Thanks!

Really enjoying your diagnostic approach. Could you explain how you go about checking some of the components as you work through your repair. Keep up the good work.

Interesting video ! How did you do the triac test at 11:45 ? Was the amp isolated ? Or the scope isolated from the mains ?
@dualityrepair47703 жыл бұрын
One of the main terminals is tied to neutral. I don’t remember which (MT1 or MT2). I connected my probe’s ground lead to that and the signal lead to the other triac terminal.

Hello Can you describe the repair of the Mackie m1400 or m1200 power amplifier?
@dualityrepair47703 жыл бұрын
Do you have a specific failure? If so, I could take a look at the schematic and get back to you.
@misterbonzoid562311 ай бұрын
Complete failures are always simpler to diagnose than distortions or intermittents.

noticed the meter wasn't working at the end when you said everything was working as it should, just saying
@GustavoAReyes-bc1vc Жыл бұрын
The amp must be putting out at about 3-5 watts for the meter to show some action. To hit the upper ones, the sound is now pretty high and uncomfortable. For normal listening, I only see the lower (indicating ON) leds.

a dim bulb tester might have caught this right away, no?
