DR #40 - ART SLA 2 - Quick Audio Amplifier Repair

This a very short video documenting the troubleshooting and repair of an ART SLA2 amplifier with a channel going into protect mode.

Hey amazing timing. I have the exact same amp open on my desk. By issue is it made a blast of sound and went into protect. Never came out after. Further more I had this repaired by long and mqade a few years ago for the same thing and now the issue is back. Any advice?

Any idea what was done / replaced in the past? Id assume it’s cap / output transistor - related but really could be many things.

Tried this and my temp switch is not open, but the amp is in protect. What can I look next?

Ok. A visual inspection is always a good place to start. Are there any burn marks? Are any caps bulging? After that, check for shorted output transistors or bulk caps. Feel free to email me and we can discuss further. Email is in the about tab.

hi, i just got one of these amps used and channel 2 is doing the exact same thing (protect after a few minutes). Can you give the exact part #, or details, or a link of the temperature switch replacement?

I have another question: I'm a noob to electronics, but in the video you show/say the switch is Open when it's triggered (protecting), and the switch you linked to is Normally Open. Shouldn't the switch be Normally Closed? So that it makes contact (closed) while in range but Opens when overheating to break contact and protect the circuit?
