I just got one of these and am still evaluating it. I paired it with a set of 40 year old Realistic (Radio Shack) speakers. This is the first time these boat anchor speaks have spoken for 25 years. Sounds great! The only downer is that I'm getting some 60 Hz hum which isn't noticable when playing music. This is with nothing hardwired to it but speakers.

Excellent. I’m running a pair of sub woofers off a mono cross over and understand now that I should run it to the amp in parallel mode. Thank you

Isn't there some amps out there that actually connect both amp channels together pretty much completely, side by side, in parallel mono mode, effectively creating a SINGLE channel amp, but one that can supply TWICE the current at the same voltage, therefore ALSO doubling the wattage output capacity into the same impedance loads as in stereo mode? (Just only doing it then as a more powerful "monoblock" amp instead) (It seems like I've seen amps that do it that way instead of the way you described for this amp in this video... But maybe I'm just remembering it wrong?)(Have you ever seen an amp that does parallel mono mode in that way that I described above?)

Hello, nice channel you have. For the Bridge mode there is a very important difference that was not mentioned. In parallel mono the same source is used to feed both amplifiers, for bridge mode there is a phase inverter that needs to be inserted between the source and the amps in order to split the signal in two with a 180 degrees phase shift between each other. Without this phase inverter, if you connect a speaker between the two positives of each channel the result will be the cancellation of the resultant signal and the outcome won't be the desired one but interesting to hear. I watched the video a couple of times before adding this comment and could not identify this detail in the explanation. The power amplifiers (some of them) have a control switch to move into bridge mode, so is an easy change for the end user but thought that know how bridge mode works at the input would be important too. Thanks for the tutorials and keep going. Regards.

back in the day i remember you had to open up the amps to put them into bridge mode. of course nowadays it's just a switch. but yeah, i liked the tech explanation of how bridge actually works. just learned something new, thanks

He does explain all of that, plus the phase difference, in the video ... see 3 minutes in ... the waveforms (both positives) are shown out of phase ...
@AT-wl9yq9 ай бұрын
All that means is to bridge a stereo amp, the input has to be balanced in order to make it work. If you send the amp a single ended signal, it can do the conversion inside the amp. Its essentially a DI box, only they put it inside the amp.
@JoeJ-82828 ай бұрын
Some amps, including the one I had that bridged into mono mode, only said that you had to feed an input into ONE of the channels jin order to utilize the bridge mode, NOT an opposite inverted signal into both channel inputs at once... So maybe some amps will do this inversion that you speak of internally and automatically whenever you place it into bridge mode, and you only use ONE of the channels as a mono input signal.

I love these amps that are very convenient for your talk . How about using an amp that most of us have like a vintage receiver or integrated amp ?
@JoeJ-82828 ай бұрын
Those exact types of amps are usually NOT bridgeable at all, they're usually just ONLY stereo.
@timchambers5242 Жыл бұрын
TIPS: 1) Check amp mode, connections, leads & speakers before connecting cables & powering on. 2) Switching in & out of bridge mode should be done with no speakers connected or the power off (if possible). Check connections, minimum input level/gain, turn on, then increase the input level/gain/volume slowly (eg. take about 10 seconds unless you hear a problem). You don't want to be fiddling with dip switches & wiring while the amp is ON. 3) If you make adapter leads, add labels to indicate purpose & how each end is wired (which end for amp, which end for speaker when not wired straight through). Use different color tape than your usual leads so you can quickly tell the difference eg. blue for normal, red for bridged.

Question: I want to run two speakers in parallel (8 ohms each) to a bridged mono amp. Specifically, two QSC E115s powered by a bridged mono RMX 2450. The amp is rated for 2400 w in bridged mono @ 4ohms, so I assume by running 2 of them in parallel into bridged mono, I'll get the full 2400, split equally between each speaker (1200 w per speaker). This compares to running one speaker per side in stereo, which only gets me 450w each (at 8 ohms each). Am I right, or what am I missing? Thanks

Does running one channel on stereo mode increase the wattage of the amp My amp runs 1600w/8ohms, can this be increased by only using one channel in stereo?

I'm an idiot basically 🙃 because I have a love of music, but don't play an instrument, ( unless air guitar or air drums count...) and I collect old stereo equipment, ie, record players (& of course records) reverberaters reel 2 reels, and amps*... they aren't stand alone amps though. I'm still learning. They all have at least a tuner in them, some a cassette deck as well. My pride and joy and inspiration for my obsession is a Sansui 9090db. I had NO IDEA the love and admiration this unit has. But all the people who I pestered about the awesomeness of this receiver can attest, and the braggadocious audiophiles the world over will agree, this is the amps you want. Maybe not the amps you need, but you'll forget all that nonsense. It has 125watts x channel, 3 separate speaker channels and I believe the finest built in tuner ever made . Anyways, I'm still learning the technicalities of electronics and especially when it comes to amplifier and speakers. If that amp isn't a good fit for the speakers you have, I bet you buy speakers that match the Sansui 9090db.........
@gamefreak2492 жыл бұрын
@@johnhandcock7744 Hey! That definitely sounds like an incredible receiver! Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, the drivers I mentioned in my original comment are 21" subwoofers, so 125W is a little underpowered lol. These drivers run at 2500W each AES rating hahaha. These would be for small scale events. Since I've posted this comment 4 months ago I've definitely found some solutions though! There are amps out there that will power them properly, they're just a tad expensive. I recently bought a 4 channel amp that can do 2000W per channel at 8ohms, so I think I'm good to go!

Back in my broke teenager basshead days of the 90's, guys couldn't understand how my Pioneer pullout, paper dual cone 6x9's, cheap sub and flea market amp outperformed their far more expensive, professionally installed systems. I wasn't going to tell them it was because they had it wired in stereo. Even when I had 2 subs and a single amp, I'd still get more db's bridging mono and just running jumpers from that speaker terminal to the other speaker. Not proper, I know, but I couldn't afford 2 amps.

You should only bridge an amp if you have to. It beats the crap out of it. A 4 ohm load is now a 2 ohm load. You make the amp work twice as hard to drive the same speaker. The harder the amp has to work changes how it sounds. If at all possible, buy an amp that has enough power to begin with. Its a much better solution. If you have 2 stereo amps that are exactly the same, you may want to consider doing a vertical biamp instead. You'll get more power, but it won't be as much as bridging. However, there are no downsides. The amp won't see the speakers at half the resistance. It will stay the same and not force the amp to work so hard.

are you sure about your definition of mono parallel? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridged_and_paralleled_amplifiers disagrees and so does everyone I've talked to about this. I believe the correct definition is that you hook one positive of one speaker up to both positives and speaker negative to both negatives on a stereo amp. This gets you double the available current to the speaker. The common way to do this is with a little scrap of speaker wire running between both +'s and another between both -'s and then wire the speaker to one binding post just like normal. You feed the same input to both sides of the stereo inputs.
