The New Covenant is a higher standard than the Old Covenant, not for our salvation, but for our conduct. Christ contrasts the two covenants below with the words "But I say...". Mat 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Mat 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Mat 5:31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: Mat 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Mat 5:33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: Mat 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Mat 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; .............................................................. The New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34 is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18. The "suffering servant" of Isaiah chapter 53, and the promise of the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31, and the timeline of Daniel chapter 9, prove that the baby born in a manger is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew scriptures. He is the "seed" of the woman from Genesis 3:15. He is the "seed" of Abraham, through which all the families of the earth would be blessed in Genesis 12:3. Does God have a "Son" in Psalm 2? Psa 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. .

My heart goes all out for this young lady as she is so lost in life that she truly needs the mercy of God. First of all I thank Dr Michael Brown for his love for God that he shows God’s image in his answering to this lost soul. A true disciple of Jesus. Loving, kind, patient, gracious, and wise to prove and GUARD God’s Truth. I can see how satan works through and in Christianity and Judaism keeping people away from God. Satan is so slimming that if we are not careful we can fall into both religions and have no relationship with God. If we want to search for God, search the Scripture with a humble and repenting heart. ASK ( ask, seek and knock), He will show Himself unto you! Religion doesn’t lead anyone to God but destruction! This is my very testimony! Blessing from Singapore.

Daniel 9 converted me on the spot. It literally says sin will be expiated in 32AD by an anointed one who will be killed for OUR atonement. And following this the temple will be destroyed. This absolutely blew my mind when I first found it. Most prophecies are so vague. This one actually has an exact timeline to Jesus. Still mind blowing.

@Gee Jesus does not lead us to Torah, Torah leads us to Jesus. He is the Word of God, the Giver of the Law, and the Judge. He alone has kept the righteous Commandments of the Law, perfectly and without sin, and He alone is able to save us from the curse that Law brings upon those who transgress. He is the fulfilment, the final and perfect Sacrifice, our Redeemer and our LORD. Israel rejected God as their King and chose for themselves a man, but those earthly kings failed and more often than not led Israel astray. So, God, Himself came down to earth, and was born of the virgin Mary, of the line of David, and took back the Kingship for Himself, in order to bring back His people from their captivity, through faith in Him, and the work that He accomplished upon the Cross. There is no other name by which men can be saved, He is the way, the truth and life, and no one can come to the Father except by Him. This is Eternal Life, to know the One True God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent. Son of God, and Son of Man, the Word become flesh, in whom all the fulness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form, that God Himself might purchase for Himself His own people, with His own blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.

As a Christian the fact he's telling her that "Are you perfect because you confess on Yom Kippur." that sounds sort of ignorant on his part, every Christian faith has a form of confession.
@johnpratts28562 жыл бұрын
It's the opposite of ignorance. Dr. Brown is asking if you feel perfect after Yom Kippur without temple sacrifice. As perfect as Adam & Eve before the fall. Don't get me wrong. Repentance and living by the Law is the way to continue to love God. But the sacrifice is necessary because of our sinful nature. This is why Messiah came (Well, one of the reasons). To be the new sacrifical system for our Atonement. Without that, it doesn't matter if you are the nicest, most charitable person on earth. It won't gain you paradise. That is the difference between Rabbinical repentance and Messianic repentance.

@hamsarris83413 жыл бұрын
He said he came to fulfill the law and prophets, not abolish them. But the OT also says there will be a new covenant. So moral law like the ten commandments anyone should strive to keep. @@jerardosc9534: Sorry, but I never got a Notification for your message, and I am just seeing it today. Actually, the scripture you quote does NOT, in fact, 'very clearly describe Him like a man' - you have extrapolated what you want it to mean. If you go back and read the passage carefully, you will see that it says "God appeared to him....". No physical characteristics are described - so God, took no human form (there is no record of God EVER doing this), because as you well know, the scriptures tell us that no man can see God and live. So, as in the Garden of Eden, it was God's _Shekhinah,_ or Presence that visited with Abraham - and God didn't eat - it was the angels, who appeared in the form of men, for whom Abraham had Sarah prepare a meal.

No Jew depends on their own righteousness. We depend on Ha Shem’s mercy. He created us human and does not require perfection as is being claimed by the Christian. Ha Shem also does not require sacrifice, he can forgive any person who comes to him with sincerity. Don’t be fooled to think you need Jesus, you can go directly to G-d like Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

He is explaining why sacrifice is needed for atonement. It seems to me that you don’t understand your own God. ¿Why if the only thing needed for atonement is mercy all throughout the Old Testament is spoken of lamb sacrifices and Gods wrath erasing entire generations because of their sins. You created the Talmud to distort the meaning of the Tanakh. The fulfillment of the Tanakh IS the Brit Hachadasha. Read the Tanakh by yourself and without the interpretation of the rabbis and you will realize that 1. God is complex in His unity. 2. God appears as human form. 3. The Messiah is Yehoshua Ben Yosif

I totally understand her draw toward Judaism, based on the how lackadaisical main stream Christians handle obedience and loyalty to the commands of God. However, in her conversion she gave up the end to return to the means. the Mosaic law was a means to an end, who is the Messiah. Rightfully so she understands that we are to remain faithful to and obedient to the commandments of God, but first and foremost we must acknowledge the divinity and rely on the mercy of Yeshua Messiah. Yeshua Messiah Became God by embodying all of God's eternal traits and attributes. We all have that same potential, but He is the only one to have ever lived up to our highest potential. He is, as He tells us, our brother. And as the mediator between us fallen and the highest Father He becomes our leader and master, having purchased our salvation with His own sinless and perfect blood and life. (John 10:34) Ye are gods and children of the Most High, (Romans 8:17) and if children then heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ if it so be that we suffer with Him. We must rely on Christ's atoning sacrifice, while simultaneously being as perfectly obedient to the Lord's commandments as we can, if we are to become true and full heirs of our eternal Father.

Isaiah Chapter 64 Verse 6 in context 4 For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, [what] he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. 5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, [those that] remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. 6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 7 And [there is] none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Leviticus 17:11: For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make an atonement for your souls upon the altar, since it is the lifeblood that makes atonement. Leviticus 5:10,12,18 : And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him… Hebrews 9:22: And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission (of sins). How are sins being remitted today without an altar - without a priest - without a Temple?

"God has laid on him, ('whom, the messiah'), the guilt of all of us." Isaiah 53 does not, in any way, identify Jesus as the subject of that chapter. For Brown to say it's about "Jesus, the Messiah" is to be intellectually dishonest with that lady. For one thing, a lot of past tense are used in that chapter, which suggest that the subject of this chapter could well be someone, who had lived and died. Also, Is. 53:10 says that "He shall see his seed...", which further suggests that it is not about Jesus. Furthermore, Zechariah 8:21-23, in effect, flattens Brown completely. According to that scripture plus a whole host of others, Brown is wrong, totally wrong.

Because it’s irrelevant 5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? 6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) 9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. 10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. 11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. 12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. 13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. 14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. 15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. 5:17 this is the problem with religion. There's some 3000 religions in human history and you all say that you're right and the other 2999 are wrong. I'm an atheist, but I have to ask, why can't you just say there is more than one way to find the almighty God? Jews and Christians have no reason to argue about which day is Sabbath, etc. People just try to get along. Acknowledge your differences and respect them even if your path to God is of a different color.

There is only ONE man who ever lived that healed the sick, made the blind see and the deaf hear, called people from the grave, was crucified on a cross for the blasphemy of claiming to be diety, died and rose again accomplishing what we could not do for ourselves... purify our sinful hearts (What, are you honestly going to say you don't sin or don't have sinful desires in your heart??? You'd be lying.) THERE WAS ONLY ONE DID THAT FOR YOU AND ME. His life and death were so important we base our whole history of time by His birth and death. This extraordinary man made the claim that there is ONLY ONE WAY to God... through Him. He didn't come to start a religion. He came for a relationship. Specifically a relationship with you. If you were honest you would admit that you suppress the truth of God in unrighteousness. You desire a worldview without a Creator so you can be sexually liberated. If you do not repent you will reap the awful consequences. He is standing at your door and knocking... let Him in.

@@cyranodeluk you're clearly dedicated and very serious about your beliefs. Here in lies the problem: As sure as you are that you're 100% correct in your beliefs, half way around the world another billion people are 100% sure about theirs. Then what happens when you two meet? That's why I say, you really need learn to get along. Jewish and Christians don't need to be bickering over who is right. Your beliefs are your own. That's ok. No need to shove your beliefs down the throat of others. If others don't believe, then be respectful and just move on. This goes for all religions especially for Muslims, especially in light of the many terror attacks and jailing of people due to blasphemy.

Conversely, why do I need to believe there are multiple ways to reach "God", all the more when you don't believe in any? Go ahead, do exactly what Dr. Brown said you should do to find God and see if there's any other way. All an atheist has for apprehending truth is experimenting with reality in a way predictable to himself, which anyway will not give to the atheist a true picture of reality, only an evolutionarily adaptive one (and super biased at that) because that's what he's supposed to perceive according to evolution. Therefore, if I can tell you that you'll predictably find God in the Christian way, you have as good as a truth as basically any other. Turn away from habitual sin and pray every moment you have available fof God to reveal himself to you, and he will show up.

IIRC it's from the prophecies in the book of Daniel. From what I understand there is a lot of controversy around the book of Daniel within Talmudic Judaism... apparently Daniel is rejected as a prophet by modern Jews and his book, if it is even read at all is classed as "writings" like the book of psalms or proverbs.
@FaithandActiondotnet7 жыл бұрын
Okay, that's interesting. I'll have to check Daniel for that. Thanks.

Christopher Smith let me bring you into a correct understanding on the book of Daniel in Judaism. The word navi which is translated as prophet actually means spokesperson. So a prophet is one who spoke his message to the people, this is why those who are classified as prophets are placed in the section of the Prophets. The Daniel was not a spokesman, he wrote his visions. This is why Daniel is placed in the section of the Writings in Tanakh.

Genesis 17:17 clearly says Abraham fell face down. But notice the "angel" didn't tell him not to bow down to him because he is just an angel. He let Abraham fall on his face before him because he is God and not just an angel. And the other times he appeared and someone bowed he didn't stop them as the angels always did

The Apostle Paul wrote something very important: Philippians 3:9 KJV - And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Here's another portion of scripture where Israel is warned not to think it's because of their righteousness that they'll enter into the promised land; in truth they fell short. Deuteronomy 9:4-8 KJV - Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people. Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD. Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you. Moses had this to say: Deuteronomy 31:27 KJV - For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? Jeremiah 4:4 KJV - Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
