I agree with Dr. West. In order for us to achieve social justice, we must evaluate our culture and be willing to question the peculiar parts of it just as Socrates, Christ and Dr. King did as well as people like Martin Luther, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

‎"Martin Luther King Jr. was one voice in a wave in an ocean; that said I'm not only willing to live and die for an ideal, I want to learn how to die while I'm alive. So I can live life more intensely and abundantly." - Cornel West "The examined life is painful" -Malcolm X "I've known no crime but to understand beyond my means." -Niccolo Zuppelli

I love Cornell West. I'd pay anything to see him with a high-top fade like "Kid" from Kid-N-Play. He does wear the same suits. Off camera Cornell is just a simple guy that can please the hell out of a woman. A woman I know told me Gene Simmons has nothing on Cornell.

He's said many times that he's not anti-capitalism, he's pro-democracy. Unlike corporations, he makes a living by encouraging people to fight for their emancipation, and not by selling products and ideas that will keep them in that state. You're right, you shouldn't say anything. Keep your vanilla mouth shut.

So would his comparison to the response of Emmitt Till's mother (and by extension, Black America's response) to "Jim Crow" terrorism and America's response to 9/11 terrorism would fall under the category of "utter nonsense", or "neither clever, new or interesting"? Because I think it's a fascinating topic to explore in the face of our President's (and much of America's) "so-called Christian faith", with a relatively contemporary ACTUAL Christian response to terrorism so readily available.

@rhm51 ~Which assertions would you like proof of Sir? Dr. West's prominence as an intellectual, or your lack thereof?...I'm not sure I'll be able to fit it all in here, there is so much proof of both, but I'll try. Dr. West graduated Magna Cum Laude At Harvard University in 3 years and obtained his M.A. and P.h.D. in Philosophy at Princeton. He has taught at Yale, Harvard and the University Of Paris. Written 19 books and edited 13. Just a guess but I'd say you graduated Magna Cum Lousy (cont.)

So what claim are you challenging? You said he wasn't speaking, but rather rapping, and that he wasn't to be understood. You were asked to post ANYTHING he (West) said that might be construed as incoherent or unintelligible (hence the counterargument to yours being, "EVERYTHING he said was coherent and intelligible").

(pg.4) I'm still waiting impatiently for your reply! Maybe you think I will go away! Stop thinking that!....Maybe you think I'll forget! Never! A True Truth-Seekers never will! ~ If your asking for me to forgive you!....I already have! But for own sake you must realize what you have done and start forgiving yourself first! It may be the hardest thing you will ever have to do! But you must do it. The sooner the better. Just get it over with, so we all can move on!... ~3rd St.Issa Truth-Seeker~

@rhm51 ~and further more, you should read what I just said about you to guy who asked you if you were a white republican from the south. I added K.K.K. Klown and a foolish hate-monger. I guessed that you were born in Richmond Va. Was I right? Because I'm from Richmond Ca. & we use the RHM as an abreviation. Wow! I just had an epiphany looking at your Amos & Andy reference. It's not a Richmond abrev. but an acronym~ Racist-Hate-Monger~ p.s. I hope not! I still Love You!~Agape Love~ IAmNotBlack~

Also we're not losing bcuz we've already lost. What we need to do is start a new game. And what I mean by "potentially violent is self defense. 2007 and black people still to damn humble to stand up for themselves in what ever manner necessary for our respect and human dignity. You can turn the other cheek if someone slaps you if you want. But I'll be damned if someone slaps me and walks away without an ass whooping.

its quite ironic that u urself r the epitomy of the showman u speak of..the amount of time that u took to look up those flashy words, u should've used to actually look at the video.

He just misunderstood Sen. Obama's bid before (See Tavis Smiley's Feb. 07 debate), now he (flip-flopped) admires brother Obama, after a phone conversation with the Illinois Senator. I challenge Al Sharpton and Lewis Brown and many other clyburn to look at the history and ask a question: " WHERE ARE WE GOING FROM HERE ?" If they can't grasp this present time's challenges the African-American community needs to face, than they are good for NOTHING. Go Obama in 09

You seriously think the Civil War was really about slavery? Those history books have all been revised, my friend. It was Economics and state's rights...pure and simple, a line drawn in the sand, and unfortunately slavery became the scapegoat. I agree with your comment about Thomas Paine, but Civil War for the freedom of all Americans wasn't a truth 150 years ago, and it's not a truth today..

@electango ~Hold On! there is something totally wrong here! First off, I disagree with your interpretation of A.A. law. Iv'e been reading the dialogue between you and kevkas73, and felt no need to interject. But now your'e talking with AfroPlato, and it seems your tone has begun to change. Are you intimidated by him? It would seem so. Your comment above contains a very disturbing statement. A boldface lie with no evidence to substantiate it. I will ask you just as kevkas73 kept asking...(pg.1)

ahooga he is a philospher and scholar, his job is to probe the society he lives in and ask questions of it. You bring a negative mindset to socratic thinking. He gives speeches on a monthly sometimes weekly basis so it is no great surprise he has some of the same material in his speeches. I have listened to all of his youtube videos and he has many different points in them. You are immature for attacking him personally instead of methodically rebutting his words and logic.

To bad the good Doctor is stuck on his P.H.D. and never bothered to learn or accept who taught the greeks whom he loves so much. This is the reason him and Dr John Henrick Clarke and Dr Ben were at odds is because he could not embrace and speak out forcefully the true achievements of KEMET the teachers of Greece.

(pg.5) I'm still waiting!.... Let me ask you this. Do you need help? Maybe I can help you? Am I right in assuming that you realize you were wrong and just don't know what to do? If so, here is a suggestion. Just start repeating what you said and state that you were lying. Not mistaken, (and this is key) but lying. A mistake is one thing and a lie is another. Many people mix the two when asking for forgiveness. Don't make that same mistake! I believe you were lying so AfroPlato would like you.

Dont you realize that every living creature has a self defense mechanism as given to them by God in order to make that creature whole?? Every creature except black humans I guess, is that what you are suggesting. How long ago an argument was made is of no importance so long as it is still relevant. You need to re-educate yourself on yourself and get an understanding of the nature of human existence. Self defense is as natural as sunshine.

He loses the strength of his potential by trying to be a worldwide people pleaser.HE talks about being willing to die, but cries too much about slavery to be taken seriouslyas a radical. He regurgitates 60s liberalism through a Babtist preacher style. He's entertaining but too disconnected to make solid points.
