The beat switch on this song was Dre's idea. He wanted it "to be cinematic" Eminem send dre a lot of different verses and flows for this song.

They're all up there for me as well but there's so many and it's impossible for me to rank them all to be honest because I like them for different reasons. His Bad Guy verse is more emotional because he's reflecting on deeper shit, whereas medicine man is more of a pop-off and call out of other rappers to say shit because he'll murder them on a track kinda vibe no matter the consequence. From a pure technical rap standpoint though one of his Stay Wide Awake verses has got to be up there for me. His flows and rhyme schemes on some of those Relapse tracks were out of this world.

Music aside, Dre knows what sparked gangster rap into the mainstream. Straight outta compton was made with expectation that it would do well in the "blue' comedy section in the music stores; alongside Rudy Ray Moore in the X rated section. 5 teenagers talking about killing people; swearing blue as fuck, talking real street talk. that's simultaneously a funny concept, made up of fictional characters (besides one guy) and it's also a reality in the hood. People took to thinking they were real murderers, It accidently hit a home run, straight into the mainstream shelves. Blue comedy is the flavor fave to his his public enemy. It's a quick slight of hand; the ace up his sleeve. He understands Blue comedy and that it appeals to more people than they had expected. He signed Eminem; x-rated blue comedy mixed with tragedy and social commentary. The made up character is there: Slim Shady, and 2 other characters, in one solo artist. The r**e line is a made up scenario within the X-rated blue comedy tradition, We all know what he means; we have to stop pretending, and inventing things to be upset about. Hip hop takes itself too seriously too much of the time. Comedy takes the ego out of the equation, These guys give the ego two middle fingers. That's what really upsets the haters. It is confronts their weakness: they think the world evolves around them because they have chosen to go with the masses and be sheep, "why aren't we letting ourselves enjoy this?" Em and Dre are saying fuck all that slave wage mind controlled TV bullshit society; be yourself and be proud of whatever happens.. Most people can't do this, and this guy's saying "grow up, get a sense of humor., this is for your kids amusement" (because you're a grown up, and you still don't get that we've leant the hard way what life is really about, and how to block that shit out, and how to not give a fuck,)

"it could've been left out" that's about 2 bars in every Eminem song. I think saying outrageous shit that make sense on some level is part of what made him blow up, so he still keeps a hint of that in his music today, even though he outgrew his genuine shady rage. I think it's funny and I appreciate that he still rattle some cages. It's the same with the gen z bar in his latest verse. I also think it ties into the chorus to some degree as well. Not that it matters but there's definitely a connection to "I'm done with foreplay"

I just see the R-word bar as him going to the extreme to prove a point metaphorically of how good he is. Is it too far? I guess that's up to the listener. I see and hear much worse in movies, books I read, etc.
