I played this game when I was about 7 and I remember being blown away by the music. I'd never heard anything like it. I had no idea what it was until a few years later, I heard moonlight sonata 1st mvt and realised it was the music from this game! I don't know if the gameplay was actually any good at all, but the atmosphere the music created in a vast spooky castle had me transfixed. I played it for hours and completed it in a weekend. Almost 30 years later and I'm both a gamer and a pianist. Strange to think that Beethoven had such a big influence on my life, simply by hearing an 8 bit rendition of one of his works...

Very nice!i player this game since 1993 and in my opinion it s an unique game.The gameplay is not so great but the music is wonderful,the Mooonlight sonata in 8 bit has an unique...fascine and the atmosfere in the castle is so dark and also creepy(the maze was a nightmare for me as a child)...i love this game,it was hard too and i was able ti finish it only after circa 10 years..2004 i remember. Weird that the game is called dr.Franken but you never see him,you play as the Monster,aka Franky..many peopl3 in fact believe that you play as dr franken but it wrong. P.S. the Baron is in fact dr. Franken but in the game you never see it,only his coffin is visible

It's crazy to read that because it's almost the same for me 😁. Except it was my brother playing at the time, I was scared and it was definitely too hard for me. But I felt in love with the music and ambiance. As you did I discovered moonlight sonata and now I'm learning the first movement at 33 years old. And I'm a gamer too 😆 Funny how some things are influencing ppl's lives 😁

I have a very similar memory of this game as a kid, I was a bit younger I think, I remember I could never really beat it, but my older brother did, and yes the music! It's amazing how "spoiled" we are now with high quality audio, audio quality like this in a NEW game for any reason other than to be ironic would be largely unacceptable to most gamers, but back then it was amazing. We also had the rechargeable battery packs for the original gameboy that you couldn't charge AND use at the same time, so you always had a time limit, which was really frustrating for the original mario for gameboy (no save function).

The music is the reason why decades later I still remember and love this game. I bought a mint cib copy today on ebay. It wasn't cheap but no regrets

I was around 12 years old when I was playing this game. My grandmother fell asleep next to me by the music of the game.

Like others have said playing this as a kid I was captivated by the music just as much as the game. At the time I wasn't aware of the Moonlight Sonata or Beethoven and just thought it was a cool song. The actual game was really fun but I couldn't get beyond a certain point and never did despite playing the game over and over again.

I loved this game from my childhood. It is a really great game, and a rare one at that. I still own my original cartridge.

The first level music reminds me of earthworm jim 2. I know it's the moonlight sonata, and it's a really well-known piece of classical music, but it mostly reminds me of that one level in earthworm jim 2.

Apparently Frankenstein's monster couldn't be bothered to get dressed and decided to go off on adventure in his nightwear lol. Although I guess its supposed to be a suit or something. That's what it looks like anyway. I've heard of this, never played it but I have seen some videos on it.
@316whatupz11 жыл бұрын
To me, it looks like Frankenstein is wearing Michael Keaton's suit from Beetlejuice. lol This game is pretty good, confusing at first though. There's a sequel to this game, believe it or not.

That's the other thing I was going to go with, but having my face right up to the screen probably wasn't going to help much hahaha.

***** lol True. I can barely see those lines.

It would be even worse if it was a real GameBoy screen!
@316whatupz11 жыл бұрын
***** I hate the screen on the first blocky Gameboy. It gets too much glare compared to the smaller Gameboys that came out later on. Gameboy Color is the best one. When this came out, I was amazed when playing Men In Black for the GBC. Too bad only some Gameboy games got the color treatment.
