saw this exact car take 1st overall in GT at the 1964 Sebring twelve hour...what isn't known was the roadster of Gurney/johnson had the coup whipped at the eleven hour mark until an Alfa without tail lights pulled out of the pits only to end the roadster's race

Car was stolen from Phil Spector

It was sold to the guy to pay off his work in lieu of cash.

Spector sold it because he kept getting tickets for speeding and noise. Plus, it has little to no ventilation for the driver. He sold it for virtually nothing. He came out of the woodwork years later when he found out what the value had appreciated to. If it were stolen from Spector and he filed a report, he would have gotten it back.
