THIS Sermon belongs in the Cannon of Great Black Prophetic Preaching!!! Thanks be to GOD for Dr. Frederick Haynes, for reminding us of Cone, the Cry of Black Blood, (historically & contemporarily), and the importance of sacred memory. Thank you for remembering the women who weep over the wreckage & carnage & lives lost--- the mothers that prayed & worked up some storms; the 4 girls who died while in Sunday School (from a bomb on Sunday); Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hammer, Mahalia Jackson, Katie Cannon; and Emmett Till, Travon Martin, Avery, Bryonna Taylor... Thank you for preaching the seldom heard message that Jesus came not just to die....but to create just , humane compassionate systems and structural change!!! That was a RAMAH Word!!!! And b/c of the cry of black blood and the call of sacred memory, I want to live a life worthy of the sacrifices of my ancestors who shed blood & cried bitter tears so that I might have life, and have it more abundantly!
