Pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie sits down with the famed author, speaker, and psychologist Dr. James Dobson. Dr. Dobson is the founder of Focus on the Family and Family Talk; both are nationally syndicated radio programs heard by millions. Dobson is well known for his books, such as Bringing Up Boys, The Strong-Willed Child, and Dare to Discipline. Dr. Dobson is also well known for his interview with serial killer Ted Bundy on the eve of Bundy’s execution. In this wide-ranging interview, Pastor Greg and Dr. Dobson discuss Dobson’s life from childhood to marriage, as well as how to raise a family with godly intentions and how to raise children with Heaven in mind.

Yes, I got to be a boss for a day and I learned the 3 ingredients to excellent leadership: 1) rely on Jesus all day long, 2) stay humble and 3) treat everyone below you as boss with dignity and respect. How awesome to have experiences meeting presidents and other leaders.

I am proud to be a new monthly supporter of Focus on the Family. As Christians we strive to balance truth and grace. Truth means God created men and women for very distinct roles in providing healthy models for our children. Grace means compassion for those who have been hurt by abusive or emotional absent parents. In the large picture gender confusion is a result of dysfunctional family relations. All the more reason to (1) love and understand those with alternate lifestyles, and (2) invest in families - Focus on the Family. May God grant us both wisdom and grace.

James Dobson is no longer with Focus on the Family. They voted him out. He and Shirley cried on the way home. But, God told James at that time that the family is at a great risk and God was not finished using him. James now has Family Talk. I no longer listen to Focus on the Family.

Dr Dobson had a huge influence on my life. I was divorced with a 2 year old daughter and every morning I listened to the radio to get leadership. What a blessing you were. Love from South Africa

I was so blessed to know Jimmy Dobson, Dr. James' dad. He was teaching art at the college I attended. He let me sit in and watch my fellow students. We would talk a few minutes every time I visited. Later in 1992, I met Doc while he visited the church I was at. I mentioned his dad. I later had the opportunity to be employed a short time at Focus. We saw each other twice and he and I chatted a few minutes. Such a Godly man. So like his daddy 💛
