Today we have Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor on the show.
Jill is an incredible woman with a message for the world that I can't wait to share with you all. Not only is she a Harvard trained and published neuroanatomist, she is also a New York Times bestselling author and was included in Time Magazine's top 100 most influential people in the world in 2008.
In this episode we dive into Dr. Taylor's fascinating new book, "Whole Brain Living" and how understanding our brain's functions can be a vital framework for navigating life's challenges.
Dr. Taylor's live event was at 5pm PT or 8pm ET on May 11th.

From my heart, thank you Graham!! I sort of just "met" you..recently having (new) time to watch you on Heartland..and just being so in awe of your deep realness, authenticity, honesty, and integrity as Ty..like you were "pulling all of us in" as your friend too, worthy of your respect and honesty and friendship too (which I am sure others felt too, which is why losing the friendship of you, and Ty, has been so real and difficult, for all). But now, as you continue to genuinely reach out to all of us, to share you, your love of life, your discoveries, your interests, your friends, your heart... via podcasts, newsletters, etc., with your continuing care and opennes...we are so blessed for your continued friendship, and your care! Again.. Thank you so very much, Graham. As Dr. Jill said, she wishes she could clone you!! :-) PS..have also recently just begun listening to your podcasts, and your solo podcast with the meditation at the end, felt like you knocked on my door, asked "how are you doing", and then after sharing your heart, you also just wanted to help me with a little meditation. It worked! It was great! Made my heart smile! Thanks, friend!

Learned something new today. Thanks! I always thought our brain was made up of two parts, a left analytic part and a right contextual part. I always felt like dominating my life with my left hemisphere. Step by step I discovered the added value of the totality idea. Thanks to Lynette Elinda and now also Dr. Taylor, my truth has changed. The idea of the four characters of our brain explains so much. It's a great help to be able to grow as a person and help me live my best life. I gave my characters the following names: 1 Juffie (teacher in Dutch), 2 IC ( inner critic), 3 Joy, 4 Holy (wholeness) I will absolutely read her book to learn more about it. I hope I can find it in Belgium... Thank you for the spiritual guide that you are, Graham.

Wow this is certainly a lot to wrap the head around. Going to have to give those 4 areas some thought. On a humorous note, your reveal about making big eyes when doing commercials as a youngster, has spilled over into character Ty, as a common tell when being sincere.

My Aha moments during the podcast and some thoughts on her book... ▪️Dr Jill's answer to Graham's painting question: points to her BEING loved by God. 💖 ▪️Graham as fussy teddy bear, everyone somewhat sees that, an endearing part of him 😉 ▪️Her first book states that 99.99% of human brains are identical, only 0.01% accounts for differences in how we look, think and behave, in opinions, hence, biases, and prejudices, disharmony in the world, in the homes, etc.😥 After listening to this podcast I purchased Dr Jill's books, the e-books, for instant gratification, and to get a better grasp of neuroanatomy basis of her soul journey and spiritual journey. Couldn't wait to dig deeper into her story. Scanning through the first book gave me a bird's eye view of her insights and perspective. Now I can go back to it and take time to savor and chew every bite in the next few days... ▪️ In the first book. Dr Jill pointed out the L hemisphere as the "doing" and R as the "being". This somehow makes sense to me and resonates with my Christian faith that the BEING comes first and then the DOING (basic tenet of gospel GRACE NT)...something to think through and meditate on and learn more... ▪️L hemisphere seems to be the domineering part of the brain but can be contained and moderated by an awareness of the 4 characters within us, thereby, we can choose which character is most appropriate and desirable at any given time...or maybe, which character that will liberate us to be our authentic BEING and be able to DO that which will help us relate to the external world...be more effective, productive, kind, empathetic, true, tolerant, accepting and loving even to the unlovable and so forth and so on... This is how I pieced together my understanding of her perspective so far.... Big THANKS Graham for having Dr Jill in your podcast! She has an amazing wondrous story to tell! 🙌 God bless you both!🙏💖 Unfortunately, I don't have nice names to my 4 inner characters as of yet, not that creative at the moment with names...😉🤔😊

Wow - so much amazing information! It explains so much about who we are and where we are at any given time. I have ordered both books, but mostly looking forward to learning how to take advantage of the brain huddle to make all aspects of my life integrated and better. I have named my four characters after the Spice Girls. Left brain thinking: Super Spice. Left brain emotion: Sad Spice Right brain emotion: Shiny Spice. Right brain thinking: Spectacular Spice. Kinda silly, but it does help me remember all the characters that are at work. Thanks, Graham, and thank you, Dr. Jill, for this "download" of information. Can't wait to learn more. And by the way, Dr. Jill, there are a few more episodes of Heartland for you to catch up on. :)

I was on board with her the whole time till she said about the shift in political power. The chaos in the news hasn't quieted down at all. It's the opposite for me. There's more hurt now than in the past four years. So much that I had to stop watching. It's all doom and gloom, I stopped watching for my mental health. I don't like the direction the world is going. You have a young audience that look up to you, I'm grateful that your spreading the words your spreading. We all need to think as individuals and not judge one another. Keep on keeping on. Your doing a good thing. They are listening to you. And i cried like a baby when you died . 😂😂😂 I was truly bummed. I knew as I watched the reasons why. The narratives themselves are a pandemic in itself. It stinks..
