@@n0yn0y true. I crave chickpeas, I recently realized. Highest source of some b vitamins, more than meat. But indeed people grow up in a culture based on eating meat, then wing it at veganism for "two months". If you don't do it for an ethical purpose, or you don't know who Dr. Greger is, it's no wonder you don't magically select a proper variety of vegetables, or whatever nasty meat simulators they arbitrarily select. Kidney beans can't replace the protein in meat. But soybeans can. Tofu is made from soybeans. All you need is half a pack of firm tofu to replace chicken breast in a meal. In fact, per 100g, soybeans have more protein than chicken. So it's very misleading to make it sound like getting enough protein without meat is a difficult feat.
@freepdfjunkie21933 жыл бұрын
I left the following comment below in a reply to someone else. It fits well here too. I almost bought some Tofu several years ago, but had a feeling it wasn't a good idea. Years later I found out that Soy products are VERY unhealthy. Soy RAISES Estrogen levels and LOWERS Testosterone levels in men. Hence the term "Soy Boy". IDK what it does to women's hormones, but it's probably equally bad. I read package labels and avoid products containing Soy.

There is a question that cutting down on eating meat will be good for the environment. Traditional farming destroys the topsoil, takes tons of toxic fertilizer and herbicides. There are drawbacks to the environment from raising animals also. My thinking the more pasture cattle we can raise the better for our topsoil and thus the environment and our health.
@davidplyler8173 Жыл бұрын
@Richard Hildebrand just got back from a trip through eastern New Mexico and saw hundreds of cattle grazing on natural grassland. 100% efficient use of the land. The cattle feed and water themselves, no fertilizers, no use of diesel to till and harvest the crops, very little manpower too produce the food, no use of irrigation to soak the land, no loss of topsoil, no destroying the natural habitat and the animals the wild animals and fauna that exists there, you can't get any more efficient than that. And the land isn't suited to farm anyway, there's not enough water underground there. I also saw hundreds of antelope grazing.

NewScientist magazine has given me more decisive information over time than this. No talk about nitrosamines for the ardent BBQ freaks? Nothing about resources consumption for the different kind of meat sources. (Turkey & kangaroo are the most sustainable and oeco-friendly kinds). No info about 'necessary' monthly intakes (1kg/month gets you all the micronutrients that are burdensome to obtain from elsewhere; and you can easily stretch that amount through Spagh.Bologneses + salads, Chinese Stir fry + lots of veges etc.). Tut, ..

Have the not so healthy food once twice or trice a week its ok just not more Than that. Get inspired instead if defensive. Its fun to learn how to be healthier. Health is balance not extremes.

So suppose if everyone turns vegan ,to feed all of the vegan should not massive amount of land will be needed and water resources also to cultivate ? I know to produce just 1 kg of rice we need 2500 litre of water and to produce 1 kg of beef it’s 5000 to 20000 litre water . But where u can survive having beef as it’s much more wholesome u can’t on rice as it’s pure carb.

Why would vegans eat rice in the first place ? Ever heard of soy? Almost 80% of the world’s soybean crop is fed to livestock, especially for beef, chicken, egg and dairy production, if everyone in America were to remove meat from their diet, there would be enough extra grain grown to feed 1.4 billion people. Soy is the main thing that vegans eat - tofu, soymilk, edamame, soy nuts and sprouts, fermented soy products include - miso, tempeh, natto and soy sauce.
