Im not a big fan of the word enlightenment because it sounds like something far off, unachievable, but not identifying with your thoughts is something very much achievable, regular meditation practice will get you there. Every time you focus your attention back to your breath it's like a mental push up right, and in time you will be able to snap away from any train of thought in an instant. It's all attention control, there is the part of me who thinks, and then there is the part of me that listens to that thinking, meditation is a practical technique to increase control over the part of me that listens, I think thats why Doctor K sometimes advises against it, because you can literally use this to avoid bad toughts and feelings that you might need to work through. But it also increases you ability to focus on those problems when you need to, because you learned to control your attention
