Great review. I am happy to hear you really like the 2976 Crazy Horse leather because I just ordered a pair in brown - just like yours - yesterday. I cannot wait to get them. I figured getting them on would be a bear because I have Frye Leather boots (no zippers or elastic) and I can wear only the thinnest of socks with them because it's impossible to get them on. I am concerned about the 2976 instep now. I have a high instep. I hope I can suffer through breaking them in. Thanks so much for your review.

I just purchased three pairs of Made in England Doc Martens. The 1460 Bex Made in England in White, the 2976 Vintage Made in England Chelsea and the 1460 Vintage Made in England lace up boots. The sizing and fit of these varied significantly. I have a wide foot. I ordered men's size 11 US in each. In the Chelsea boot the fit was amazingly comfortable from the first try on. They were a little longer then either of the combat style boots. I added the Doc Marten's heel pad to the Chelsea boot as I broke them in for a more secure fit. The cap toe boot was the smallest across the the part of my foot that is widest which falls exactly where the laces end. To break them in I used the Doc Marten balsam and they broke in quickly. The fit of the 1460 had a bit more toe room than the cap toe and was much more comfortable.

I got a pair of yellow stitch crazy horse Chelsea for my birthday. I love them. I wear them every time I’m wearing pants. The one thing I’ll be suggest in getting, is a boot jack to help take them off. I don’t have one yet but I will be getting one when the weather cools down and I’m wearing my Chelsea’s daily.

Tried on Chelsea, immediately felt loose. Prefer laces. Laces look tougher too.

I much prefer the Chelseas. The 1460's just don't adjust correctly to my feet. They should really put a shank in there, to give them some structure.

It’s up to you.. which type of sole do you want? The 2976 gives it the boots vibe while the embury will feel like a sneaker.. both are great but I like the 2976

I am wearing Doc Martens since I was 12 or 13 years old (1988). Back in the days the quality was totally OK, they were all handmade in the UK. And they were not that expensive, comparable to good sneakers back in the days, around 100 Deutsche Mark, in 1988 that was around 58 Dollars. My first 1460s and my 1490s lasted years. And I wore them daily, hundreds of miles, there wasn't even any profile on the soles (in winter this was more or less not such a good idea, think ice skating :D) After Doc Martens had their problems and were sold and most of the boots were made in Asia I bought some of the newer 1460s... And they sucked. The leather was not the same as the boots from "the old Docs" and after two years they were dead. So I stopped wearing Docs for a while as my daily "drivers" aka shoes. A few years ago I bought my first pair of Made in England Docs. And, woooh, these were much better concerning quality and feel, reminded me of the "old" 80s and 90s Docs. Now I change between 1460s Made in England in black and in red and Made in England Chelsea boots. For more formal occassions I have a pair of vegan 1461s. But I can't recommend the vegan Docs. They are way to hard to break in compared with the "normal" MiE Docs (and they are harder to break in than the cheaper asian Docs...). My wife even collects Docs. She has around 10 pairs. Boots, loafers, even sandals. But she is more a collector of sorts :D

@@Fodaydontplay Took ages for me for the vegans. I normally don't have a lot of problems with "real" Made in England Docs to break them in cause I use good leather fat (wonder balm works of course, too) and in a few weeks they fit like a second foot ;).
