I discovered this song about a year after one of my best childhood friends committed suicide and it had me sobbing. For a while it truly felt like a dream and that one day I’d wake up and he’d be there. He didn’t have the best advice but any time I was down he would drive me around and play music or we’d go get food and he never made me talk about it if I didn’t want to, just knew that I needed a friend. I felt guilty for the longest time because I didn’t offer that back (granted he never reached out to me) and I had no idea he was suffering so much. I can finally go about life normally again but songs like these will always bring me to tears because of the memory. You never really move on when you lose someone, you just learn how to function as a person again.
