I have always enjoyed discussing “the quote that changed you” and also how they can be a central, pivotal demarcation- a before, an after - that most can return to again and again. It’s also fascinating how one will impact some quote and not others. I’ve collected these chats since I had my first encounter with The Quote That Changed Me. It was Epicurus “Death is nothing to us since when we are it is not and when it is we are not”. And then a bit later it was Seneca “we cannot choose our parents but we can choose whose children we become”. I lost my fear of death and my shame for being born into a criminal family (that I simply could not enjoy for even a moment). Lately it has been the Serenity Prayer (what a genius combination of words). Please share yours! 2:15
