Context is king!! Most training methods have a time and a place but the key is they are specific to the individuals experience, ability levels, history of injuries, and what are their goals. Lots to think about before dismissing something.🏆🏆 Unless of course it’s just for more likes and views, then that KZbinr needs to make videos with everything using scare tactics🏴☠️🏴☠️

Great video! My own bench press technique has sometimes been criticized for the fact that I lower the bar really quickly to my chest... with that technique, however, I have set my own records in military bench press competitions. Why waste any energy on the eccentric phase of the lift? Of course, the technique must be practiced so that the performance is as consistent as possible every time.

I understand what Mike Dr. Mike does and sells because and I just saw the last comment and I know not everyone’s trying to be a pro bodybuilder but it’s easier for guys just to build their bodies quicker. We’re just trying to get in shape powerlifting and I love don’t get me wrong. I love, Matt’s videos too, but he’s a hard-core powerlifters and he’s a monster. Both are monsters. There’s something you can take from both people and apply it to what you wanna do about being in better shape for yourself and feeling better about yourself.

💯 true, here our final purpose target, etc, is PERFORMANCE, so if we use hypertrophy, power, stability, durability, or target is performance, so is very different for someone use only aesthetics hypertrophy for example.

Yep, good video. Cal Dietz discovered the deceleration and isometric holding of the weight contributing to more fibers being recruited for the concentric, aka more power. You’re absolutely right about looking at the eccentric, I noticed that’s where the reps slow down first not in the concentric, when you cannot slow down the bar speed on the way down and your amortization phase is slower then the bar speed on the way up will be slower.

That's interesting. This probably means that fast eccentrics touch and go would be more beneficial than a paused bench or even dead bench because, in the latter two cases, the force that a lifter has to fight to overcome is the weight times acceleration due to gravity, whereas the touch and go with fast eccentrics is weight times acceleration due to gravity PLUS the extra momentum that the sped up bar accumulated at the point of reversal from eccentric to concentric. This would be crazy difficult to keep the bar under control though, but again, if I'm not mistaken at maximal weights, stabilizers on a lift are what gives out first and what makes or breaks the lift. i.e you can't lift what you can't stabilize.

One thing that I find confusing at times is if your using a fast eccentric under control and exploding up which would build force, why would you bother with dynamic effort? Your still training with the same intention so to speak.

@@WenningStrength that's actually the hard part because everyone has different fibre types. I saw where yourself and dave tate both said you were faster than stronger by a mile (relatively speaking as your both extreamly strong) but wouldn't it make more sense in that perspective to focus on being more explosive on max day and lay off the DE work a bit.
