Commissioned, Take 6, Bebe & Cece, The Clark Sisters & The Winans were untouchable in the 80’s. They are the fathers & mothers of contemporary gospel music

Technically and I’m telling my age here, the Fathers of contemporary gospel music are Edwin Hawkins and Andre Crouch (70’s The Mothers would be The Clark Sisters. (70’s) Bebe and Cece were still with Jim Baker and the PTL Show. Everyone that has been mentioned here are absolutely legendary. We thank God for their gifts.

I’m so thankful Dr. Matti Moss Clark opened the door for Commission! One of the best Gospel male group!!! I feel for those that seems to not appreciate them in this video! Embarrassing for any church organization to have this kind of behavior especially to those that are singing to the glory and honor of God. It seems whenever there’s a new sound of gospel music there’s always resistance. Look at Fred Hammond now!!! Keep going on in the name of the Lord!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

@chanellovely2836 Жыл бұрын
Yes its called innovation. People especially "church" folk, usually dont react well to what they arent used to but this way of singing was a different style it was upbeat and less "churchy" sounding. Praise God Commissioned would go on to do great in gospel and Fred Hammond even as a solo gospel artist. Thank God for people like Dr. Mattie Clark, who knew great talent when she saw it and wanted God to be glorified through whomever was willing to use their musical gift for His glory.

I love the Benson music era. There were so many great gospel albums and compilations released on Benson in the early 90s. This was a very innovative time for Gospel music. You had Commissioned, Take 6, and Bee Bee & Cee Cee Winans with a more contemporary sound… Church people were not really ready at first and didn’t receive it. I wish it would have stayed at that level of Contemporary, because now it’s gotten so Contemporary you can’t tell Gospel music from Secular music or easy listening…. Now it all kinda sounds the same. Not to mention how they perform and dance on stage like they are at a night club…. It’s really changed for the worse.
