For more than a hundred years we Tamilians have been brainwashed to believe that Sanskrit is an alien language, the Sanskrit speaking Aryans (read Brahmins) came to the Tamil land and destroyed our culture, and what not? It's certainly a valid point that the ancient predecessor to the Tamil language (Proto-Tamil or Proto-Dravidian) had independent origins and Tamil developed into a classical language with the wonderful Sangam literature, etc. But the Tamil land has had so much of interaction and cultural exchange with the rest of Bharatam for thousands of years that it's only natural that Tamil absorbed so much of vocabulary from Sanskrit. If you read "Prathapa Mudaliar Charithram", the first Tamil novel published in 1879 (incidentally written by a non-brahmin), you will find that almost 50-60% are Sanskrit words or Tamil words of Sanskrit origin. Literature from even 1950s and 60s had a lot of Sanskrit words. But the Tamil separatist movement, in a slow and sure process, has replaced the Sanskrit origin words with old Tamil words or mostly newly invented Tamil words that today many young people believe that Tamil Nadu has nothing to do with the rest of India. Nothing wrong with getting to the roots of a language, but languages are supposed to get people together, in this case it's done with the intention of separating us from our brothers and sisters on the other side and the culture we've inherited for millennia. Genetically also it's proven that the whole of South Asia is a mixed race, so the point that by getting rid of Sanskrit we are getting rid of some alien influence doesn't hold. We people of Tamil land owe as much to Sanskrit as we owe to the ancient Tamil language.

I appreciate your points. New archaelogical evidence confirms that the whole of India was populated from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Bengal to afghanistan for nearly 10000 years (or perhaps more). Importantly they were all connected, interacted with languages that they all related to, did business with each other, learnt from each other and had a similar culture. The culture was vedic. The script used was Brahmi by all languages in India around 2000 to 3500 years back, which changed and became devanagari in north and grantham in south and finally changed further to what we have as different scripts. we are same culture and same race and all Indians are indigenous for over 10000 years even as new people came into India for different purposes. we are all Indians and our culture is our common thread and the unifying factor. The more we become English and the more we forget our culture, the more we become un-Indian and we will help breaking india forces.

Every kid who is familiar with Thirukkural knows that Valluvar said there is no stratification by birth ( Kural 972) while Vedic texts indoctrinate closed stratification by birth . Valluvar said to avoid some ( புலால் மறுத்தல் , வரையில் மகளிர் , கள்ளுண்ணாமை chapters 26, 92 and 93 ) and in Vedic texts they mentioned about management of them and about even appointing superintendents for them ( Arthashastra chapters 25 & 27 ,29). The whole idea of Dravidian identity is brainchild of missionaries. They had planned two step process to Christianize south India - 1. Create independent identity of South Indians cutting them from Bharatiya roots. 2. Christianize rootless masses pretending Christianity is very compatible with their "original" Dravidian identity.. Clearly they were very successful in their mission. South India (especially Tamilnadu) got heavily Christiansed compared to North. They attempted similar approach in Maharashtra too (planted and pushed Phule as Marathi equivalent of Periyar in ideology under cover of social reforms) but miserably failed as Marathis refused idea of separate non Bharatiya identity. Also their language belonged to IE family hence Dravidinism simply could not work there.

Tamilians are Born Hindi-haters, they are taught to hate Hindi and Sanskrit. . As North Indians, West Indians and Central Indians we don't care for Tamil language, I mean we just consider it a language like Punjabi or marathi. Let them keep it safe. Dr.Nagaswamy is not right in saying that the word Anthanan means Brahman. It is so today. But not so in Thirukkural. Anthanan is a great soul and a societal teacher. There is no reference to caste in Thirukkural. Only occupational names are found in Thirukkural. Thirukkural uses the word aruthozhilor meaning the group of persons who are involved in six occupations like learning, teaching, collecting alms and giving alms conducting pujas on their behalf and conducting pujas on behalf of his clients. Another word used is parppan which really means aruthozhilor. The anthanan found in Thirrukkural is a societal teacher. This is the notion held by none other than Rajaji in his English translation of Thirukural . His translation is the most truthful translation of Thirukkural in English. Dr.Nagasamy's claim of Thirukkural is based on the so called Sastras is totally absurd and ridiculous.Before the Sanskrit came to Tamils Land , all the knowledge, science, Philosophy and Medicines were given by the Siddhars. The Siddhars are the advisors to the kings before the Brahmins came to Tamilnadu. They always preach equality and education for all, the society was fine. Then the Brahmins came with their language Sanskrit( it is dead now) and try to outsmart and from the day one they try to destroy the Tamil , they got some success as well. The Brahmins got success in destroying classical Tamil in Kerala ( was then Cheara Nadu) and mix with Sanskrit and made one language called Malayalam. This was done by the Telugu import Brahmis called as Namboothiries. The same story is not successful in Tamilnadu. Later when the Tamil Kings were thrown out of power by Krishna Deva Rayar and later by Nayakar Kings, those Telugu rulers destroyed Tamil from every place like Temples and music and bring Sankrit to Temples and Telugu to music and there is no place for Tamil in any where, that was the worst period for the Tamil Language. Can this guy give an explanation why a Tamil Oduvar was not allowed to sing Thiruvasagam and Devaram inside the Chidambaram Natarajar Temple and he was beaten by the Bramins. Why there is Sanskrit in the Tamil Temples in the first place? The so called Hindu Temples won't allow puja to be performed in Tamil, where as in many Churches they pray Jesus in Tamil, This what the so called Hinduism's respect to Tamil Language. Then later the Christian mission came to Tamilnadu and they are the one dig out almost dead Tamil language and gave a life. All the credit goes to Christian Missionaries like Robert Caldwell, G.U.Pope ,Veerama Munivar and so many others. More over Thiruvalluvar is a Siddhar and Philosopher, he wrote many other books apart from Thirukkural. All the Tamil Siddhars never accepted the Vedas right philosophy and many siddhars ridicule the Brahmins in many of their texts.From this perspective, how come the Thirukkural is abridge of Sastras as the Siddhars are against vedas. Actually all the so called sastras are corrupted copy of Tamil Philosophy and science. That is the reason this Brahmins want to Destroy the Tamil for a long time. The Brahmins always hate Christian missionaries, because they are the one brought Education for all in the name of schools and Colleges, before that, Education was only for Brahmins and ruling elites, all other people left in the dark. So the educated brahmins are keeping large society illiterate to keep their dominance, this was changed by the Christian missionaries and British rulers. Actually the British brought Christian Missionaries to gave Education to all section of society than actually propagate Christianity. The Brahmins always blame anything which destroys their dominance in the society, they hate British rule, Christian missionaries , E.V.R Periyar and B.R Ambedkar.

@lakshman govindarajan, You are completely wrong on education. Brahmins did not destroy education, britishers did. Until mid 18th century madras presidency had extensive school education system with more non brahmin scholars and lot of non brahmin students enrollment. Madras presidency had more students enrollment than entire england. In england at that time they mostly thought bible in schools.It was britishers who noticed this and they wanted to control indian population. So first killed the school system, stopped financing the schools and then divided population and then slowly started accepting brahmins only into convent schools started by britishers and introduced english biblical education. That is how they took over education system and in next 150yrs all people except brahmins lost education and the entire fault was thrown on brahmins as if brahmins killed education. They repeated same formula in bengal punjab elsewhere. In punjab they sucessfully put fights between jatts and non jatts, today most non jatt lower castes in punjab are running away from sikhism like how u tamils are running away from hinduism. That is colonization of british. Come out of your brainwashing and study some history with open mind, or if you want to continune in hate and self loathing be my guest. ur choice. Btw if ur interested read 'Indigeneous Education in the 18th century ' which is based on british archives. Which gives u a picture of existing indian school systems around 1730s. good luck.

My question is if Tamil and Sanskrit are of same age or Sanskrit is even older than Tamil, how come Sanskrit is dead and Tamil is still spoken by 💯 million people all over the world. Yes 💯 million i.e., 10 crore people across the globe has Tamil as their mother tongue 👅. While Sanskrit has zero balance. How do the people speaking this vedic language has vanished?
