Leadership is a quality that Indians totally lack. We can only be slaves. Even big companies behave like lalas, cribbing on the details and micromanaging, without having leadership and vision.

The root of the matter is reservation. Over 70 years of this disease and gangrene has already set in. When the vision itself is faulty, no amount of changes are going to bear fruit. Situation is so bad in babudom and nepo that Indian professors lack the discernment to identify a gifted student.

YOU HAVE GOT IT ALL WRONG! You may have rightly identified India's overreliance on the "brain rental" model and its failure to invest in homegrown technology and platforms. However, while the criticism of this model is valid, the underlying reasons for this phenomenon need deeper examination. 1. Systemic Barriers in India: The issue isn’t just about policy or strategy-it’s rooted in systemic challenges. India's primary education system struggles to provide quality education at scale, creating a skills gap early on. Coupled with corruption and crony capitalism, the environment is often hostile for innovation and merit-based progress. STEM graduates in India face limited opportunities for career growth and financial stability compared to what they can achieve abroad. 2. Economic Disparity: Indian STEM talent is drawn to countries like the U.S. not out of preference but necessity. The salary difference is staggering! An engineer in the U.S. earns significantly more than one in India for the same skillset. This disparity makes it impractical for professionals to choose patriotism over personal well-being and financial security. 3. Lack of Innovation Ecosystem: For talent to stay, India needs to create an ecosystem that allows individuals to reach their maximum potential. This requires massive investments in R&D, better infrastructure, and reduced bureaucratic hurdles. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, most of India's wealthiest industrialists focus on less risky ventures for quick profits rather than fostering innovation. 4. Reality vs. Idealism: While it's easy to criticize brain drain and call for retaining talent, the reality is that dreams are better supported abroad. In India, even the most skilled individuals often hit a glass ceiling due to systemic inefficiencies and lack of support. It’s unfair to expect individuals to sacrifice their aspirations when the system does not offer comparable opportunities. Therefore, the problem of brain drain is not solely due to individuals or companies, it’s systemic. Until India fixes its primary education system, tackles corruption, and incentivizes innovation, the current model will persist. Blaming H-1B visas or the professionals pursuing them overlooks the root cause. Instead of lamenting the brain drain, India should focus on creating an environment that makes staying and innovating at home as rewarding as going abroad.

Hats off to Rajiv Malhotra for his open minded ness& logical argument. Yes it is not the cult but the intrinsic talent that should be in the forefront in deciding what is correct and what is not. Hinduism is a great religion whose values are alive in American society today by the Hindus over there as the govt has allowed it to flourish without demeaning except a few who are trying to brand the Hindu community as a cult oriented one out of sheer jealousy& ignorance. But the paradox is what is happening in India today with the elected govt and its PM following the Hindutwa hate politics for his political gains by insulting the minority communities especially the Muslims who constitute a whopping 20 crores Indians. This is the paradox. While in a foreign land like US, Hinduism is cherishing by those who practice it & with the govt understanding & largely supporting it, in India where the Hinduism is the major religion its values have been destroyed by the Hindu political cadre who are misusing it. This is the tragedy & pity& paradox!

1. Most chinese dont speak english well 2. The chinese economy is much bigger than india's so many more opportunities at home 3. Why learn a foreign language when you have opportunities at home. India's lack of opportunities at home relative to China means us Indian labor have very little choice and less leverage.

I respect you sir. but i have to say this.............🔘🔘🔘🔘🟥 What brain drain sir. You speak in an assumption as if India was the land that fed us and nurtured us , educated us?? And that when we turn 18 it is our duty to give back to India?? Really ? I beg to differ. Not India, but our Parents fed us and nurtured us. If I was born on the streets , homeless, will 'India' feed me and educate me. .... So people dont have a commitment to motherland. We go to were there are opportunities and facilities. Here in India we have only have high Taxes like Europe and US , and facilities like a third world nation .

Forget about rich indians, why not government is creating culture of universities collaborating with industries so that innovation & latest technologies are sipped into the uni curriculums & our new troop of engineers do wonders? All American universities with left over talent from India like failed in IIT admissions, are going to US. With the US university culture & infrastructure they do wonders there. Had it been those facilities, collaborative approach & infrastructure with Indian universities, students would not have gone abroad. Govt need to fix this problem & involve industries by some policies to collaborate with universities. I bet, within 10 years, India will be among the top coutnries for innovation.

Why don’t you google “which country are most millionaires leaving from”. The top country is China. India is also high but china is the top. India’s education system is pathetic under the current government which spends a very small percent of the budget on education and research and a large amount on religion. What brain drain - everyone who wants a future in science or tech should leave

Actually Buddhism, as righly said, is veey similar to Christianity , but with concept of spirituality. Hence followers of Christianity can easily relate to it. Hinduism is very different and can be related to ancient religions like Greek, Roman, Egyptians, persian etc where multiple Gods belonging to different forces of nature were worshipped in a complex way. Religions like Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhisms are highly simplified to suit needs of common people where they don't have to perform complex rituals in order to connect to God. This is the reason why common people find modern day religions more appealing. They are asked to follow just one God and he will take care of everything.

There are 2 fundamental issues : 1) Service industry - I don't think IT service sector has failed tbh. Infosys/TCS are not sending/ renting out so called highly talented folks from IIT/IIM. Most of these IT workers are mediocre at best & are not expected to do any innovation. Even these people accept they are just mediocre. In fact, problem is with our innovation sector which has failed miserably. 2) Over hype and over glorification of IIT/IIM - IITs have failed miserably to produce any culture of innovation / entrepreneurship. Except for few rare cases, you hardly see people from IITs/IIMs doing something innovative. Either IIT graduates go to US for masters/Phd just to be absorbed there (and then get into the line of H1B) or their main target is to do MBA to become a manager/consultant in India (of a US company). Add to the societal pedestal they get just for cramming for an exam from Kota institutes, and then you feel everything is messed up. IIT/IIM is just a matrimonial profile strengthening keyword , and nothing more.. Until there is a restriction be placed on IIT/IIM graduates that they have to work in India / or work in their own company for 3 years, nothing will ever change.China govt. has a policy that any graduate from their top colleges need to work with CCP/ CCP funded companies/create their own idea. India, on the other hand does not have guts to take meritocracy based decisions. We still have caste based reservation in education/ jobs? For what? 30 years is more than enough to uplift these folks, isn't it? Indian leadership just want to show the world how (useless) democracy India is. And irony is, India is trying to impress media / elite class of the WEST which is leftist/Islamist. Today, US under Trump/Musk has eliminated DEI hirings and now focussing on meritocracy. No matter what would be the consequences, but at least US keeps experimenting to see what fits best for them
