Thankyou so much for sharing your story, it may save another womans life...This is such an important issue, as a survivor do domestic violence I find these shows very hard but I count my blessings that I had a friend who got me out of the situation. I thought I was going to die in the last attack, I ran and haven't looked back, I think the fact that he was smiling as he was punching me made me see the reality. My love for him ended that day after going back time and again. I am 61 and I am free.

Never tell your abuser that you are leaving them because they will end you. Leave quietly and quickly!! I've been through it all, I'm 63 now and I'm glad I never had children.
@laurencejuilland490821 күн бұрын
Absolutely true, I can agree 💯% to your comment never allow your abuser to know your thoughts about leaving him, it will get only bad, first time I made that mistake, so I went back and planned it better in order to leave, take your passport along with you, if you have children, don’t care about money, allow the police to go back and get everything which is missing for you, but after the situation is cleared… I am not saying to leave without telling him will make him less dangerous, as my guy chased me up with a shotgun, in to different countries years after I left, but in the end, it gave enough time to escape, gather and get myself into safety (I have no children). It’s not easy but it is absolutely doable! Believe in yourself!

I knew this was going to be a tough one to get through, and I was right. I'm a victim of dv, and I walked away before it became worse. My child is what came from that relationship, and I love her for making me put foot in front of the other and keep going. She is my saviour. She has done more for me than I can ever thank her for. I'm just glad that she never witnessed it. Such a precious gift. 💕

It is difficult to comprehend but Abused person gets addicted to abuse. I am the prime example. My brother beat me up black and blues. since I was 14 until I was in my forties. I am now 84 yrs old retired medical doctor. One day when he tried to get in my bed, I just decided enough was enough and fled the country. Relatives were on his side. He was very charismatic to the public and they blamed me. My brother abused his wife and his own son who was in Medical college. One day his son had enough and he turned on his father and nearly killed him. I never married or had proper relationship for fear of repeat abuse.

I know someone who is in an abusive relationship. She has kids 4 kids and one of them is from the guy that is abusing her. She really doesn't have anyone to help her get away from him. Her family doesn't care about her. She is actually staying right now in a motel because she doesn't have anywhere to go. What really makes it bad is the man who is abusing her is paying for the room because she doesn't have anyone else and of course he take advantage of the fact he can stop paying for the room and her and the kids will be on the streets. This man is very mean to her. He tells her that her kids would be better off without her alive. A few years back she called me about 9 o'clock at night crying scared because he had took a towel and put it around her neck and pulled her through the kitchen and he also pushed her down and broke the top of her hand. I just feel bad for her because I don't know what to do. She needs someone to help her get some kind of place for her and those babies to be safe away from him. She also knows that she will need to get an restaining order against him because he told her if she ever left him. He would find her and make her regret it. We want stop until we get a place for her and those kids to be in a safe happy home.

my heart starting pounding!!! I'm a survivor of domestic violence and I'm glad I escaped when I did! I was married to an abusive man for 5 years and almost ended my life a few times because of it. I ignored the red flags because I didn't want to believe it. the former mother and father-in law laughed at me one day at dinner saying "he's your problem now" and neither of them did anything about it! No one kept me safe, police did nothing, his father was severely abusive and yelled at me because I called the cops on his son (years later I realized his family's abuse is now known to the public). his mother didn't put her foot down either and tell her husband that enough is enough. Domestic violence is a "silent killer" and needs to be brought to the public! I'm part of a facebook group dedicated to the survivors and victims of domestic violence. I thought I could handle the pain alone, but now I know I'm not alone!

It brainwashes you makes you believe it!! no matter how much you try to stay within their lines something always sets them off. He choked me until I passed out then convinced me he was sorry. He did it again later in the relationship and beat me up thank god I was fast enough to run out the door and call the police. Thankfully I left and got as far away as possible. I really think he would have eventually killed Me. Today I’m happily married and have a son im so glad I chose to put myself first rather then listen to the things he was feeding me every day.

I was in an abusive relationship as a teen. Thankfully However I got out. I have no sympathy for the women who's stay when pregnant or have children repeatedly with the abuser. If THEY stay that's THEIR choice, but children have no say. People know how history repeats so they know exposing children to DV has such devastating repercussions on the child growing up and either accept this behaviour, or even turning into an Abuse*r. Also the mothers are directly responsible if the children end up being kill*d by the father/ abus*r

@@champ0032 Yes you are a fool. First off, you didn't say the same thing as the other post because your post was trying to correct theirs, and not very well at that. Second, your post was so poorly written that nobody with any common sense could decipher that you were saying leaving is sometimes more dangerous than staying. And while it's true that leaving can be dangerous, staying is even more dangerous, as it guarantees the abuse will continue forever. As Dr Phil said, if you leave you need to have a solid plan for doing so, but staying out of fear of what could happen if you leave is absolutely the wrong choice 100% of the time.
