This video is recording of a lecture "Why should we study Shastras" given by Prof. Prathosh A.P. Faculty of IISc, Bengaluru as part of Krishna Bhakti Peetha Lecture 3 held in Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandira, Bengaluru on 4.2.2024.
Dr. Prathosh received his Ph. D from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2015, in the area of temporal data analysis. He submitted his Ph. D thesis three years after his B.Tech in 2011, with many top-tier journal publications. Subsequently, he worked in corporate research labs including Xerox Research India, Philips research, and a start-up in CA, USA. His work in the industry, focussing on healthcare analytics, led to the generation of several IP, comprising 15 (US) patents of which several are commercialized. He joined IIT Delhi in 2017 as an Assistant Professor in the computer technology group of Electrical Engineering where he was engaged in research and teaching of the machine and deep learning courses. Currently, he is a faculty member at the department of ECE at IISc, Bangalore. His current research includes deep-representational learning, cross-domain generalization, signal processing, and their applications in computer vision and speech analytics. He has co-founded a start-up Cogniable.Tech which builds learning algorithms for behavioural healthcare using video analytics (first-place winner of the recent AI startup challenge by Govt. of India) and also actively engaged with several corporate industries, start-ups, and medical centres (E.g., AIIMS) in solving interesting technical problems. He also happens to be a student of Samskrit Language and Indian Philosophical sciences having studied Nyaya Vedanta with Prof. Sheshagiri Acharya of Mysore.

Pratosh, I am ready to dive into ANY shastra if it trains me how to put forth perspective and reduce arguments with my spouse who has zero knowledge of shashtras ..

You become infinity which includes zero also in it ! The moment you understand your infinite nature you can accommodate people who have zero knowledge of shastras - in the sense - shastra cannot "directly" help you to deal with the world outside the body+mind bundle (called 'me') - shastra is meant to travel within the body+mind and realise that entity which is "infinity" - being in that locus of "being"; you spontaneously start pouring "love" (intrinsic to That infinity) - this is the way to deal with the world (things, people & events) which includes the "spouse" whom you feel innocent of shastras - please remember that only the innocent people can render help when there's some disaster - brain don't know how to help but it knows how to put arguments logically - whereas an innocent heart knows ONLY to love & help (because, 'That' infinite source exists only in the heart !) - start enjoying (unconditionally) the innocence which is a God given gift ! - dear friend, till you get this point .... can you please keep saying "Problems are in me, I am not in them" [as told by Swami Chinmayananda] - Namaste ! - 🎉🎉🎉

Has it been defined clearly / understood clearly / got convinced totally ? 2. What is the prescribed solution? Is the solution logically connected to the problems defined under step 1 above ? 3. Even if the solution has logical connectivity, is that solution practicable for each individual listener ?
