The story of Magdala is the story of twelve not so prominent, but incredibly important women in the Gospels. The first person to say, “He is risen!” was a woman, Mary, who believed God’s word entirely. (Whereas the first woman in the Bible, Eve, had doubted God’s word.)
Walking through the site with dr. Randall Smith and the group provides the viewer not only with insight into daily living of religious Jews in the time of Jesus but even more importantly draws the attention to the Saviour who came to this world to save sinners.
The town of Magdala is known today just because of one woman, Mary Magdalene. And she is known, not because of anything extraordinary she did, but because she was the woman whom Christ Jesus set free from seven demons. And so the story of Mary Magdalene and her declaration of, “He is risen” can be the story of each of us!

Dr. Randall Smith is still my favorite bible teacher. I love John Macarthur, Vernon Magee, Jay McCarl, Adrian Rogers and a few more, ALL who will I'm sure hear 'well done good and faithful servant' - but this man will always be my first go-to for bible understanding. I just wish he'd put more of his sermons on KZbin.
