Didn't think of that and I love it, also explains Snively sounding like he's constantly holding his nose shut. I'd also chalk some of the damage up to two things: Robotnik's, er, natural bulletproofing, and the incident from Blast to The Past that caused his roboticized arm. The Archie comics, being based on SatAM, stated that Bunnie's roboticized limbs used her lifeforce as their power source, and an entire plotline revolved around trying to make sure they didn't wind up killing her by using too much. Keep in mind Bunnie has only been roboticized for a short time... Robotnik has had his robot arm, with no modification to prevent this risk, for (again going by Archie timeframes) about 12 years. Sure, it's only an arm and not half his body, but either way that's gonna do a LOT of damage to his health: it's not like he takes care of it!

I myself am not a full expert on the Archie comics themselves, but I can say that it is highly likely that the long term effects of the roboticized arm are greater than the short term effects of half of one's body.

@@Glisten456 Exactly. Robotnik is certainly in bad health, but it may not be obesity or weight that’s killing him. In fact, according to Archie, a fully roboticized person is likely still only looking at a human lifespan. Sonic’s father was the first victim of it, while Chuck was trying to create it as a medical device: however, Jules’ life, though saved, is still limited, and he will live about as long as he would as a healthy Mobian his age. The mechanical parts decay in their own right, and he’ll eventually just fall apart.

I don't think people realize just how motivated this Robotnik is. His first-ever encounter with Sonic in that universe ended in his left arm being roboticized. Roboticization, at least in the Sonic multiverse, is the process of turning living tissue into machinery. Without anesthetic, I'm inclined to believe it's an extremely painful process, as it doesn't happen all at once, more of a spreading conversion. Think about this. Sonic quite literally maimed Robotnik the first time they met, likely putting him through one of, if not the, most painful experiences of his life. Robotnik isn't out to trap or contain Sonic for the sake of squashing the rebellion; it's getting even with the person who's cost him his life's work, his empire and his left arm.

I love the subtle menace of this music. I always thought this was the best incarnation of Robotnik because he always seemed to have things planned out. Even when he lost it was just a minor inconvenience and he still held power over Robotropolis and Sonic and Freedom Fighters were still just hiding in the woods. I remember an episode in the first season though where you saw just how intensely he hated Sonic. He is in a cloaked ship with Sonic in his crosshairs but warned the ship will crash if he tries to fire on Sonic. Given that knowledge he chose to fire. Given only after he tries does he find out the system is down. He was willing to die just to try and destroy Sonic, that's pretty intense.

I remember that scene. That, and everything else he did in Season 1 makes it clear to me that he's the best version of Robotnik. A hero is valued by the villain he faces.

However I wish they would make Eggman more like how he was from Sonic Adventure through Unleashed, because Eggman was still a bit more of a threat then. "The Void" reveals that there is an entity that even Robotnik finds utterly terrifying; *Naugus.* While Naugus in terms of character doesn't seem very intimidating (he's largely rather grouchy but comical troll), the sheer power he demonstrates he is quite imposing: he created the crystalline world in the Void, can instantly transform anyone into anything, and handily encases Sonic and the others in crystal... all of this with the casual ease of snapping his claw. His abuse of Robotnik seems to only be comedic - however - right before he starts to turn into crystal, Naugus' face contorts into an angry scowl and his hands begin to glow menacingly - the only other time his hands glow is when he opens a portal into the Void. Until that moment, he'd only been toying around.

I feel this way too. The strings should blend together more easily as, in my opinion, I feel that the individual notes are more pronounced than the original, which makes it a tiny bit off for me.
